Welcome to my first ever Super Card.

What I’m going to do here is analyse the four PPV’s held by WWF and WCW in 1985 and put together a Super Card based on the matches booked that year.

My only rule is that I cannot select a wrestler twice. Sounds easy enough?

The four PPV’s I am wading through are Wrestlemania (the original), WCW Great American Bash 85, WWF The Wrestling Classic, and WCW Starrcade 85.

Straight away, I will tell you that the Wrestling Classic is a bit of a red herring. There were 15 matches and not a lot of quality on the show. I did manage to find one match I liked though.

I was aiming for 8 matches but in the end I have settled on 7 quality matches. There were a couple of matches that came close to getting on the card, like The Minnesota Wrecking Crew vs. Buzz Sawyer & Dick Slater (GAB) and The Midnight Express vs. Jimmy Valiant & Miss Atlanta Lively (Starrcade) but I decided to leave them off.

There were a few difficult decisions to make, like which Hulk Hogan match? The Wrestlemania tag team main event or the title match against Piper at Wrestling Classic? Also, which combination of Ric Flair/Dusty Rhodes/Tully Blanchard/Nikita Koloff/Magnum TA matches? There were so many good matches involving those men.

Here’s the card I came up with.

Ric Flair (c) vs. Dusty Rhodes – NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship match – Starrcade
