Michael Cole welcomes us to Perth before throwing to arrival shots of Rhea Ripley, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens (with a koala) and Randy Orton. Michael Cole tees up the opening match but we then go to the opening video package. There’s more arrival shots of the likes of Raquel Rodriguez, Liv Morgan, Grayson Waller (who gets a good pop), Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes.

Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan vs. Naomi vs. Bianca Belair vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Tiffany Stratton Elimination Chamber match for a Women’s World Championship match at Wrestlemania XL

Background: On February 5, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that due to the women’s Royal Rumble match winner choosing to challenge for SmackDown’s WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania XL, Rhea Ripley’s challenger for Raw’s Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania would be determined by an Elimination Chamber match. The first qualifying match took place on that night’s Raw, where Becky Lynch defeated Shayna Baszler. Bianca Belair then defeated Michin on the February 9 episode of SmackDown. The next qualifier took place on the February 12 episode of Raw, where Liv Morgan defeated Zoey Stark. The fourth and fifth qualifying matches took place on the February 16 episode of SmackDown where Tiffany Stratton and Naomi defeated Zelina Vega and Alba Fyre, respectively. The last spot was determined by a Last Chance battle royal on the February 19 episode of Raw, which was won by a returning Raquel Rodriguez by last eliminating Chelsea Green.

Previous PPV matches: This ia a first PPV match involving these six women.

Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Becky Lynch is 2-0, Liv Morgan is 0-4, Naomi is 2-2, Bianca Belair is 1-1, Raquel Rodriguez us 0-1, Tiffany Stratton makes her Elimination Chamber PPV debut tonight.

Match: Bianca, Raquel, Tiffany and Liv are the first four girls out leaving Becky and Naomi to kick things off. It’s back and forth between those girls in the opening five minutes before Tiffany joins the match. Tiffany is impressive from the moment she enters. Liv is next to enter and she picks up the pace. Tiffany takes a lot of damage at this point but when Naomi hits a neckbreaker off the top of the pod it’s Tiffany that rolls Naomi up for the three, eliminating Naomi from the match. Raquel enters next and dominates for a while. She gets triple teamed but it’s not enough to eliminate her from the match. Bianca Belair then finally joins the match.

Bianca and Tiffany get into it before Raquel gets involved. I can’t put my finger on why Raquel’s face looks different. Tiffany lays Raquel across the corner of the ring before Liv dices off the pod with a senton on Rodriguez. Tiffany then pushes Becky off the top of the pod before diving off the pod herself with a swanton into everyone (except Liv). Liv then hits a version of oblivion on Tiffany on the top rope which is enough to eliminate Tiffany to boos from the crowd. Raquel hits a double tahona bomb on Becky and Liv before Bianca hits Rodriguez with the KOD to eliminate her from the match. Bianca, Becky and Liv fight it out for quite a long time. Liv rolls Bianca up out of nowhere and gets the three and Becky then hits Morgan with a man-handle slam for the victory.

Result: Becky Lynch wins a Women’s World Championship match at Wrestlemania.

Review: This was a fun match. For my it was Tiffany who was the highlight. I can see her being one of the top women on the roster. Becky gets the win which was predictable but the right result. Rhea and Becky will be a great match at Wrestlemania. Bianca looked good, Liv had a good showing too. A fun way to kick things off.

They’re an ad break as we have become custom too since Peacock took over the WWE Network in the US.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest) (c) vs. The New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate) Undisputed Tag Team Championship match

Background: On the February 2 episode of SmackDown, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Contender Series began, featuring two fatal four-way tag team matches, one for SmackDown and one for Raw, with the winning teams then facing off to determine who would challenge reigning champions The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) for the title at Elimination Chamber. Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate won the SmackDown bracket that night, while on the following episode of Raw, #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) won the Raw bracket. On that week’s SmackDown, Dunne and Bate defeated #DIY to face Bálor and Priest for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at Elimination Chamber.

Previous PPV matches: With this match marking a PPV debut for Tyler Bate, it means that this is a first time PPV tag team match between these two teams.

Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Finn Balor is 1-2, Damian Priest is 0-1, the challengers wrestle at this event for the first time tonight.

Match: Dominik Mysterio introduced his team to the sound of boo’s before getting wiped out by the challengers. Bate and Dunne then take it to the champions, at a quick pace. The challengers have some success against Finn Balor but Damian Priest soon takes control for his team. Dominik soon gets involved with a cheap shot on Bate. Judgment Day dominate for a while but Pete Dunne gets a hot tag and takes out both opponents with a moonsault on the outside. It’s back and forth for a while. The challengers come close to winning but Finn is saved by both Dominik and Damian. Priest accidentally crotches Balor in the corner before the challengers hit the Birming Hammer for a near fall. Priest hits a double chokeslam on Dunne and Bate before Balor hits a coup de gras on Dunne for the win.

Result: The Judgment Day win by pinfall.

Review: This was another really solid match. The New Catch Republic are great wrestlers with a good arsenal of original moves which made for an entertaining match. I’m not sure there was any doubt over who would get the victory though. I’m interested to see where the tag team champions are on the wrestlemania card as I can’t see a clear path at the moment.

Ad break.

Austin Theory introduces Grayson Waller next for the Grayson Waller Effect. Waller gets a big pop. He plays the babyface and then introduces Seth Rollins. Cody Rhodes is introduced next and we get down to it. Mostly chit chat until Cody challenges The Rock to a match. Seth tells Cody he has his back when the time comes. Austin Theory does his best Rock impressions before getting taken out by Rhodes and Rollins.

Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Logan Paul – Elimination Chamber match for a World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania XL

Background: On the February 9 episode of SmackDown, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that due to the men’s Royal Rumble match winner choosing to challenge for SmackDown’s Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL, Seth “Freakin” Rollins’s challenger for Raw’s World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania would be determined by an Elimination Chamber match. The first qualifying matches took place on that same episode, with Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton defeating AJ Styles and Sami Zayn, respectively. The next qualifiers took place on the February 12 episode of Raw, with Bobby Lashley and LA Knight defeating Bronson Reed and Ivar, respectively. The last two qualifiers took place on the February 16 episode of SmackDown, where Kevin Owens and Logan Paul defeated “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and The Miz, respectively.

Previous PPV matches: This is a first time match involving these six men.

Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Randy Orton is 2-5, Kevin Owens is 1-1, Bobby Lashley is 1-3, Drew McIntyre is 3-2, Logan Paul & LA Knight wrestle at this event for the first time tonight.

Match: Drew McIntyre and LA Knight kick off this chamber match. It’s back and forth between these two men but LA Knight gets a good run, smashing McIntyre’s head off two of the pods repeatedly. Kevin Owens is next to enter. Owens and Drew go at it with KO getting a near fall off a frog splash. Drew takes out both opponent with a cross body off the top and then in comes Bobby Lashley. Bobby and Drew get into it with Lashley dropping McIntyre with a big spinebuster. Randy Orton is #5 in the match and he hits his trademark moves on Kevin Owens. All four men go at it and all five men are down at one point. And with all five men down Logan Paul pod opens. But Kevin Owens is waiting for him and lays into the United States Champion, beating him from one pod to the next. Lashley then throws Owens through one pod and spears Logan Paul through another. McIntyre hits Bobby with two claymore’s which is enough to eliminate Lashley from the match.

As referees attempt to get Lashley out of the chamber in comes AJ Styles who repeatedly smacks LA Knight with a chair! AJ then hits a Styles clash on Knight on a chair before McIntyre pins Knight for the three. Kevin Owens has a good spell against Logan Paul and Randy Orton. KO counters a claymore with a pop-up powerbomb before hitting a stunner on Logan Paul. Orton hits Owens with an RKO to eliminate him from the match. Logan hits a big cross body off the top of a pod on McIntyre before pulling out some brass knucks but before he can do anything with them he gets hit with an RKO out of nowhere which is enough to eliminate him. It’s back and forth between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton until Randy hits an RKO! Logan Paul then smashes Orton with the brass knuckles! Drew drapes an arm over Orton and gets the win!

Result: Drew McIntyre wins a World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania.

Review: This was a fun match with a slower pace than the earlier Elimination Chamber match. I expected Drew to win and predictably he did. I didn’t see Logan Paul costing Randy the match but that puts them on a path to Wrestlemania. Drew was the right winner tonight, he’s been killing it as a heel.

Triple H is out next. Hopefully with a big announcement rather than on pandering assignment. It’s pandering. He thanks Australia and tells us the attendance of 52,590.

There’s a video package for Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Nia Jax – Women’s World Championship match

Background: On the September 11, 2023, episode of Raw, Nia Jax made a surprise return to WWE and helped Rhea Ripley retain the Women’s World Championship, only to attack Ripley after the match. At Crown Jewel on November 4, Ripley retained the title in a fatal five-way match, also involving Jax. Since then, Jax continued to target Ripley, vowing to win the 2024 Royal Rumble match to face Ripley at WrestleMania XL, but failed. On the next episode of Raw, Jax viciously attacked Ripley and said she would not make it to WrestleMania. On the February 5 episode, Ripley called out Jax, however, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce appeared, trying to prevent a brawl between the two, and announced that Ripley would defend the Women’s World Championship against Jax at Elimination Chamber. Despite this, a brawl still occurred.

Previous PPV matches: This is a first time PPV match between these two girls.

Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Rhea Ripley is 0-2, Nia Jax is 1-2.

Match: Rhea Ripley is very popular in her home country and she is quick out of the box before attempting Rip-tide which Nia blocks and allows the challenger to take control. Nia hits a couple of powerbombs but can’t keep Rhea down. Nia hits a Samoan drop but Ripley avoids a legdrop. Jax then hits a Samoan drop off the middle rope for a near fall. Rhea hits a frog splash for a near fall. Nia hits a Samoan drop on to the announce table and then hits an elbow drop putting Ripley through the desk. Nia then hits an an-Nia-lator (banzai drop) for a near fall. Jax hits a super-plex and then a rip-tide for the victory.

Result: Rhea Ripley wins by pinfall.

Review: This was a decent main event. It’s been a predictable show but that hasn’t been a bad thing. Rhea Ripley gets the wins and goes on to face Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania. Nia was a great opponent for Ripley but there could only be one winner tonight.

Rating: 6.5/10

And that was Elimination Chamber 2024. It was a decent enough show in itself. There wasn’t any bad matches but I think the match quality slowly decreased as the night went on. It was a predictable evening too. The opener was a lot of fun and Tiffany Stratton in particular stood out. She’s a star and she’ll definitely be champion one day. Becky Lynch got the win predictably and it gives us a big first-time-ever match at Wrestlemania to look forward too. The Judgment Day would beat The New Catch Republic in another fun match. Dunne and Bate are unique in their offence and although they never really stood a chance, it was a fun match. I’m not sure where this leaves The Judgment Day for Wrestlemania, The Awesome Truth? The Grayson Waller Effect was a waste of time.

Drew McIntyre won the men’s Elimination Chamber match and it means that he’ll meet Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania. McIntyre has been excellent over the past few months and I definitely think he was the right man to win. AJ Styles got involved, continuing his rivalry with LA Knight and they also sowed the seeds for Logan Paul vs. Randy Orton at Wrestlemania too. Rhea Ripley then successfully defended her women’s title in the main event in front of a home crowd. This was decent, not great. Nia was a good opponent for Ripley who has been champion for nearly a year now.
