Rock vs. Brock. The Undisputed WWE Championship is set to be defended tonight as The Rock, who beat The Undertaker for the gold at Vengeance last month, defends against Brock Lesnar. Brock earned the right to his shot by winning the 2002 King Of The Ring two months ago. Lesnar would put his Summerslam title shot on the line on Smackdown a few weeks ago (after Stephanie signed him to the brand from Raw) against Hulk Hogan, beating Hogan with the F5. Since then Rock and Brock have been involved in a couple of brawls but it all comes to a head tonight.

The biggest rivalry on Raw has been between Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Triple H signed with Raw at Vengeance thanks to Michaels but turned on his friend the next night on Raw after teasing a DX re-union. Triple H then challenged Michaels to a match at Summerslam which Michaels accepted but general manager Eric Bischoff has told them that the match is non-sanctioned as he doesn’t know whether Michaels is fit enough to wrestle. It’ll be the Heartbreak Kids first match since Wrestlemania 14 in 1998. Another man that has joined Raw is Chris Jericho and he too has targeted a legend in Ric Flair. Jericho has bloodied Flair on more than one occasion and interrupted what looked to be Flairs retirement announcement. Since then Flair attacked Jericho as he and his band Fozzy performed their new single. Jericho and Flair meet tonight in their first ever PPV encounter.

The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line tonight as Rob Van Dam takes on Chris Benoit. Benoit beat Van Dam for the title on Raw a few weeks ago and then signed over to Smackdown. Van Dam won the opportunity to take on Benoit for the belt and although Stephanie McMahon tried to stop it from happening, her assistant Stacy Keibler made sure it did before Stacy herself jumped over to Raw. Tag team champions Lance Storm and Christian also moved over to Raw and have been immediately targeted by Booker T and Goldust. Raw have arguably had the better tag team division since the split so it makes sense to have the belts over there. Fellow Un-American Test has also attacked Undertaker on a number of occasions setting up a match between the two at Summerslam.

Eddie Guerrero moved over to Smackdown a couple of weeks ago and since then has been targeting Edge. He’s attacked him on a number of occasions and the two have mixed it up in tag team matches. Tonight will be the first singles PPV match between the two. Also on Smackdown has been the debut of Rey Mysterio. Mysterio is a cruiserweight who has been given a big push since arriving and one man that has taken exception to a smaller man mixing it up with the heavyweights is Kurt Angle. The two have been on the opposite sides of tag team matches as well but tonight they go one on one in Mysterio’s PPV debut.

On Heat prior to the event, Spike Dudley defeated Steven Richards.

There’s not a video package to kick us off this pay per view which makes a change. Just a “and now…Summerslam” with a couple of brief shots of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Brock Lesnar and The Rock. Michael Cole is then the man to welcome us to Summerslam, he’s joined by Smackdown colour commentator Tazz, they will be calling the Smackdown matches tonight whilst Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler will be calling the Raw matches.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle

This is a pay per view debut for Rey Mysterio. This is Kurts third Summerslam appearance, at the last two events he challenged for the WWE Championship, beating Steve Austin by DQ last year but losing to The Rock the year before. Kurt comes out for this one first and Rey doesn’t make his usual entrance as he attacks Kurt from behind as Kurt stood waiting in the ring. Mysterio hits a flying head scissors, a dropkick and a monkey flip. There is plenty of quick action in the early going and Kurt manages to get the ankle lock on but Mysterio is too near the ropes. Mysterio then attempts the 619 but Kurt gets out of the way and drags Mysterio out of the ring, smashing him into the barricade. Back in the ring and Angle hits a suplex and a German suplex. Rey rolls Kurt up for the first near fall of the night. Angle hits a backbreaker for a near fall of his own. Angle works away at the back of Mysterio and then lays into him with right hands. So far in 2002 Kurt has feuded with the likes of Triple H, Kane, Edge, Hulk Hogan and now Rey Mysterio.

Kurt applies a half Boston crab to Mysterio which Rey gets out of but Angle knocks Mysterio right back down with a clothesline for a two count. Rey hits a jawbreaker and some forearms but gets caught with a belly to belly from Angle. Angle then goes for an Angle Slam but Rey arms drags him across the ring before sending him right out of it. Rey then takes a run and a jump outside the ring and lands right on top of Angle. He rolls Kurt back in and springboard back with a legdrop for a two count. Kurt gets to his feet and manages to lock on the ankle lock but Rey pushes him off into the ropes and hits the 619! Mysterio then springboards off the top rope and hits the West Coast pop but Angle kicks out!

Rey hits a spinning heel kick and heads to the top but Kurt runs at him and Mysterio jumps over the top. Angle finds himself on the middle rope and Rey goes up for a hurricanrana but he doesn’t hit it properly and looked to grab the foot of Mysterio but doesn’t. Angle turns round and this time does grab the foot of Mysterio, locking on the ankle lock! Kurt drags Mysterio to the middle of the ring and finally Mysterio taps out! Kurt gets a huge win tonight over Rey Mysterio. A great match between these two to kick things off. This should make everyone up their game tonight.

Stephanie McMahon is backstage talking to a stage hand. She tells him to go and tell Eric Bischoff to top that match. Stephanie then walks into her office where Bischoff is waiting for her. Bischoff tells her that they’ll be sharing an office tonight.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler then talk about the Raw portion of Summerslam. They are miles away from the ring.

Ric Flair vs. Chris Jericho

This is a first time meeting between these two men. It’s Flairs first ever match at a Summerslam whilst Jericho has fought at the last two, beating Rhyno last year and losing to Chris Benoit the year before. Flair has had some comeback in 2002, fighting PPV matches against the likes of Vince McMahon, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Eddie Guerrero. Jericho hasn’t won a PPV match since No Way Out back in February. Flair gets the first near fall of the match after knocking down Jericho. Jericho chokes Flair and hits a big back body drop followed by a clothesline. Jericho hits a belly to back suplex but misses with an elbow drop. Flair attempts to throw Jericho out of the ring but Jericho skins the cat and Flair hits him with some of his trademark chops. Jericho then hits some chops of his own before Irish whipping Flair and clotheslining him out of the ring.

Jericho flies to the outside with a double axe handle before throwing Flair back into the ring and hitting him with right hands. Jericho got drafted to Raw a couple of weeks ago. He comes off the second rope with a dropkick for a two count. Jericho takes one of the turnbuckle pads off which distracts the referee so he can choke Flair with his wrist tape. Flair hits some of his trademark chops but Jericho keeps knocking him right back down. Jericho hits a suplex and then heads to the top but Flair throws him right back down to the mat. Flair looks like he’s struggling a bit but he gets out of the way of Jericho and hits him with a back body drop and a side suplex for a two count. Flair tries for a vertical suplex but Jericho slips down and tries for the walls of Jericho but Flair rolls him up for a two count.

Jericho misses with the lionsault as Flair rolls out of the way. Flair then tries for the walls of Jericho himself but Jericho reverses it into a figure four! Flair gets to the ropes and straight after he taps out! The tap out won’t count as Flair was already holding onto the ropes. Flair chops Jericho into the referee and then when the referee was bending over, Flair hits him with a low blow! Jericho hits the mat and Flair locks on the figure four! Jericho taps out! Flair wins the match and Jericho continues his PPV losing streak! Jericho hasn’t won a PPV match since No Way Out back in February! An unexpected win for Flair.

Paul Heyman is backstage with Brock Lesnar. Heyman is laughing at a best of Hulk Hogan DVD coming out. Heyman then motivates Lesnar. Will Lesnar leave tonight as WWE Champion?

Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero

Look at the talent on this show. The first 6 men on this show are all top class athletes. These two have never had a one on one PPV match against each other before. This is Edge’s 5th Summerslam PPV, he’s won in 3 of his 4 Summerslam matches before this one. Eddie Guerrero has only fought at one Summerslam before, he won teaming with Chyna against Val Venis and Trish. Edge takes the advantage with a flapjack. Guerrero drops Edge on the top rope and lays into Edge with some big forearms. Guerrero returned to the WWE on the night after Wrestlemania and since then has feuded with the likes of Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair before Edge. Edge gets the first near fall of the night. Edge has had a 2002 feuding with the likes of William Regal, Booker T, Kurt Angle and now Eddie Guerrero. Edge goes for a spear but Eddie sidesteps it and Edge flies to the outside.

Edge looks like he’s hurt his shoulder and Eddie takes advantage by throwing Edge into the ring steps shoulder first. Back in the ring and Eddie works away on the shoulder of Edge. This is Edge’s 50th PPV match. Eddie locks on a crossface chickenwing but Edge gets out of it with a snapmare but Eddie goes right back to work on the shoulder, locking on a fujiwara armbar. Edge gets out of it and battle back with a back drop. Eddie hits an elbow to the face but Edge hits a facebuster for a near fall. Edge then suplexes Eddie all the way from inside the ring to outside! Edge goes up top and leaps all the way down to the floor taking Guerrero down. Edge rolls Eddie back in the ring and then goes up top but Eddie meets him up there and sets up for a superplex but Edge reverses it into a facebuster for a near fall.

Edge backs off into the corner and motions for a spear but Eddie hits him with a dropkick. Eddie then goes up top and leaps off with a frog splash but Edge gets his knees up! Edge hits the Edge-o-cution but Eddie kicks out. Both men are coming off losses at Vengeance. Eddie hits a northern lights suplex and a neckbreaker before going up top but Edge gets up and tries for a superplex but Eddie headbutts him off and hits a frog splash to the injured shoulder of Edge! Guerrero hooks the leg but Edge kicks out. Eddie attempts his springboard hurricanrana but Edge throws him down and then nails him with the spear! Edge hooks the leg and gets the three! Edge beats Eddie Guerrero tonight in a really nicely paced match. Good chemistry between these two.

The Coach is backstage with the Un-Americans. Christian can’t wait to expose Booker T and Goldust for the American shams that they are. Lance Storm and Christian knock the fans and aren’t happy about wrestling in Long Island tonight.

Lance Storm & Christian (c) vs. Booker T & Goldust – WWE Tag Team Championship Match

Lance Storm and Christian won their belts at last months Vengeance PPV from Hulk Hogan and Edge. Christian has a 1-1 record at Summerslam, Lance Storm and Booker T both have a 0-1 record whilst Goldust has a 2-0 record having beaten Marc Mero in 1996 and Brian Pillman in 1997. Christian starts the match against Goldust. Christian has wrestled in 3 tag team matches at Summerslam events. Goldust takes the early advantage, taking down both Un-Americans. He gets the first near fall of the match. Christian tags in Lance Storm and Goldust hits him with an atomic drop and a clothesline. Goldust tags in Booker T who hits a reverse elbow on Storm and a sidewalk slam. Booker T and Lance Storm both came in last year as part of the Alliance.

Booker T tags in Goldust who comes in off the middle rope. Christian takes a cheap shot on Goldust and Lance then throws Goldust to the outside where Christian rams him into the barricade. He throws Goldust back in where Storm gets a near fall. This is a first PPV outing for Goldust and Booker T as a team. Storm tags in Christian who hits some right hands and kicks. Some classic heel tactic and Christian goads Booker T out of the corner so Lance Storm can lay into Goldust. Christian then hits Goldust with a backbreaker for a two count. Christian tags in Storm who misses with a dropkick. Goldust rolls him up for a two count and then hits Lance with a chokeslam! Storm tags Christian who applies a front facelock. Goldust tags in Booker T who lays into both tag team champions but referee Nick Patrick didn’t see the tag. He gets Booker out of the ring allowing Storm and Christian to double team Goldust.

Lance knocks Goldust down with a clothesline for a two count. Storm tags Christian and Goldust starts a comeback, slingshotting Christian into Storm and then both Goldust and Christian knock each other down with clotheslines. Storm makes sure that Booker doesn’t make the tag and then Booker tries to get in the ring, distracting the referee. Christian and Lance attempt a con-chair-to but Goldust ducks it and knocks both men down with a clothesline. Goldust finally tags in Booker T who knocks down both tag team champions. He hits Christian with chops and a big forearm. Booker goes up top and hits a missile dropkick on Christian for a two count.

Booker attempts his trademark scissors kick but Christian gets out of the way and tries for the Unprettier. Booker pushes him off and Lance comes diving in with a superkick but accidentally hits the referee! Booker then hits both champions with his scissors kick before doing the Spinaroonie! Booker hits Storm with a big kick and covers him but the referee is down! Then out of nowhere comes Test who hits a huge boot to the face of Booker T! Christian pins Booker T and the referee comes round to count the three! Christian and Lance Storm win a fast paced match between these two teams!

Chris Benoit (c) vs. Rob Van Dam – Intercontinental Championship Match

This is a first time meeting between these two men on pay per view. Both men have fought at one Summerslam event before, Rob Van Dam beat Jeff Hardy at the 2001 and Benoit beat Chris Jericho at the 2000 event.  This is the only Raw vs. Smackdown match tonight with RVD representing Raw and Benoit having recently moved to Smackdown. Van Dam hits some big kicks on Benoit sending him to the outside. These two men will always guarantee you a good match. Benoit applies a headlock which Van Dam gets out of but Benoit knocks RVD down. Van Dam hits a springboard cross body for a two count and then a big kick. Van Dam then misses with a big roundhouse and Benoit hits him with a German suplex. Benoit then runs Van Dam into the middle turnbuckle before knocking him down with a clothesline for a two count.

Benoit hits a backbreaker for a two count and then a snap suplex for another near fall. Benoit applies an armbar but Van Dam gets out of it only to get knocked down again. RVD monkey flips Benoit but Benoit is first up and knocks Van Dam right back down again. Benoit has fought the more PPV matches out of these two but RVD has the better win record. Van Dam knocks Benoit down and then attempts the split legged moonsault but Benoit gets his knees up. Benoit then heads to the top, motioning for the flying headbutt which he attempts but RVD gets out of the way. Van Dam then goes up top and flies off with the 5 star frog splash but Benoit rolls out of the way! Benoit locks on the Crippler Crossface but RVD gets his foot on the rope to break it up.

Benoit lays into Van Dam with big right hands and an Irish whip but Van Dam gets his foot up and goes up top just for Benoit to shove him off the top down to the floor below. Benoit exits the ring and shoves Van Dam into the ring post before rolling him back into the ring. Benoit hits a shoulder-breaker and a reverse elbow for a two count. Benoit goes back to a submission hold which Van Dam gets out of just for Benoit to take RVD back down. Van Dam sweeps the leg of Benoit and then attempts the Rolling Thunder but Benoit gets out of the way and locks on the Crippler Crossface for the second time this match. Van Dam breaks free but Benoit once again rams RVD into the ringpost. Benoit hits three lovely northern lights suplex’s all the while holding Van Dams arm in a hammerlock position.

Benoit applies the Crippler Crossface for a third time in this match but chooses to break the hold to stop Van Dam from getting to the ropes. Benoit locks on a front facelock which Van Dam gets out of and then RVD applies the Crippler Crossface but Benoit is quick to get out of it and hit a dropkick to the face of his challenger. Van Dam hits a springboard kick for a two count and then a spinning heel kick and rolling thunder for a two count. Van Dam goes up top but Benoit crotches him and hits a side suplex which Van Dam manages to spin out of in the air into a cross body. Van Dam goes up top again and this time hits the 5 star frog splash which is enough for the three! Van Dam wins the match and becomes a three time Intercontinental Champion! Great match between these two.

Undertaker vs. Test

This is the first one on one PPV match between these two big men. This is Undertakers 11th Summerslam match, he has won 6 of his previous 10, lost 3 and had 1 no contest. Test has won both of his previous Summerslam matches, winning a 6 man tag match last year and beating Shane McMahon in 1999. I don’t fancy his chances tonight. The Undertaker has gone from main eventing the last few PPVs to fighting Test in the midcard. He takes Test down with a hiptoss but Test fights back with some big knees. Undertaker hits a huge clothesline for the first near fall of the match. He then works the arm and goes for old school on Test but Test shoves the referee into the ropes, crotching The Undertaker. Test then sends Undertaker to the outside and lays into him out there with right hands and an Irish whip into the ring steps. Undertaker and Rob Van Dam are the only two men in the WWE to have fought on every PPV so far in 2002.

Back in the ring and Test hits some big reverse elbows to Undertaker dropping him to the canvas. Test applies an arm bar but Undertaker gets out of it and hits a suplex. The two man slug it out in the middle of the ring until Undertaker delivers a DDT for a two count. Undertaker then goes up top and hits old school. Test goes for his pump handle slam but Undertaker drops down and hits a chokeslam. But Test kicks out of the cover. Lance Storm and Christian then storm out but Undertaker takes care of them. He chokeslams both of them but the distraction is enough for Test to hit Undertaker with his running boot! He hooks the leg but Undertaker kicks out! Test grabs a chair but Undertaker fights him off and hits him with the Tombstone for the win! Undertaker wins the match after fighting off al three Un-Americans. Undertaker celebrates with old glory.

Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H – Unsanctioned Street Fight

Shawn Michaels last fought over 1600 days ago. That match was against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 14 back in 1998. It’s a first meeting between these two best friends on PPV. Shawn Michaels has fought at 6 Summerslams before, winning 3, losing 2 and drawing 1. Triple H has fought at 5, winning 2 and losing 3. Michaels gets right into it with Triple H before the bell, knocking Helmsley down and hitting him with right hands. Michaels sends Triple H to the outside and then cross bodies him from the ring down to the floor much like he did against Vader back in 1996. Michaels is wrestling in jeans and cowboy boots. He runs Triple H into the ring post and then knocks him down with a clothesline.

Michaels throws a trash can into the ring and then Triple H bounces Shawn off the barricade. Shawn skins the cat back into the ring and then takes Triple H down with a clothesline. He smashes a trash can into Triple H’s head and then goes up top and hits a double axe handle. Michaels motions for sweet chin music but Triple H ducks it and hits a big backbreaker. Helmsley continues to work the back, hitting Michaels with a hard Irish whip. After a near fall Triple H grabs a chair and smashes it into Shawn Michaels spine for a two count. Triple H hits a facebuster and then DDT’s Michaels onto the steel chair for another 2 count. Triple H takes Michaels belt off him and then whips him with it. He hasn’t finished there though, Triple H grabs a sledgehammer from under the ring. Michaels kicks Helmsley away and hits him with right hands but Triple H whips Shawn hard into the corner and applies an abdominal stretch using the ropes for extra leverage.

Triple H breaks the hold and pops Michaels on the top rope but Shawn fights him off and looks to dive off but Triple H pushes referee Earl Hebner into the ropes crotching Michaels. Triple H then smashes Michaels with a steel chair. Triple H then sets up a chair and uses it to drop Michaels on like a backbreaker but only for a two count. Helmsley hits a sidewalk slam on a flat chair for another two count. Triple H sets up for a Pedigree on the chair but Michaels hits him with a low blow. Helmsley picks up a chair Michaels sweet chin musics it right into his face! Both men are busted wide open now and Michaels hits some big right hands and a flying forearm before nipping up! He hits a back body drop and then smashes a chair into Triple H’s face.

Michaels throws Triple H out of the ring and then smashes him with a trash can lid before whipping him with his belt. A “we want tables” chant breaks out as Michaels continues to lay into Triple H, first with a trash can lid and then with one of the Spanish announcers boot! Michaels then bulldogs Triple H into the ring steps before grabbing a ladder from under the ring. He hits Triple H in the face and gut with it before slingshotting The Game right into it. That earns Michaels a near fall. Michaels gets the ladder again but Triple H baseball slides it into his face. Back in the ring and Triple H goes up top but Michaels meets him up there and hits a superplex for a two count. Triple H hits a high knee to the face but only for a two count of his own. Triple H gets the ring steps but Michaels drop toe holds Helmsley right into them.

On the outside Michaels sets up a table. He smashes Triple H in the face with a fire extinguisher and Helmsley falls right onto the table. Michaels then goes up top and hits a big splash on Triple H right through the table! Pinfalls don’t count on the outside so Michaels rolls Triple H back into the ring. He sets up a ladder and climbs it before jumping off it and hitting an elbow from 10 foot in the air. Michaels motions for sweet chin music but Triple H catches his foot and sets up for the Pedigree. Michaels drops Triple H to the mat and bridges him into a pinfall and gets the 3! Shawn Michaels beats Triple H tonight after one hell of a match! Triple H then attacks Michaels with the sledgehammer twice into the back.

Rating: 9/10

The Fink gets in the ring and tells us that this is the first PPV he has announced in this arena since Wrestlemania 2. He then takes a shot at baseball but out comes Trish Stratus! The Fink isn’t happy with what Trish has done to him over the past couple of weeks. Trish says she has come out to give him a big surprise. She starts by giving him a hug. She then says the real surprise is here and Lilian Garcia comes out and slaps The Fink in the face before booting him right in the groin!

The Rock (c) vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE Undisputed Championship Match

This is the first PPV meeting between these two men and The Rocks 5th Summerslam match. He’s won 3 of his previous 4 and lost 1. He rushes to the ring and lays into Brock but Brock hits him with a belly to belly suplex for a very sudden near fall. A “Rocky sucks” chant breaks out right off the bat. Brock hits a couple of backbreakers for another near fall. Rock rolls out of the ring where Brock clotheslines him over the barricade. Brock has won 4 of his 6 PPV matches so far. Back in the ring and he hits another belly to belly suplex for another near fall. The Rock battles back with right hands but Paul Heyman grabs The Rock to distract him. Heyman chokes Rocky behind the referees back. Brock hits a big powerslam for a two count.

The Rock hits a belly to back suplex to a chorus of boos from the crowd. Both men nip up and The Rock hits right hands a three clotheslines to take Brock off his feet. Rocky then plans Lesnar with a DDT for a two count. The Rock goes for the Sharpshooter but Heyman gets up on the apron so The Rock slaps him down. The Rock then applies the Sharpshoter to Lesnar. Rocky breaks up the Sharpshooter when Heyman once again gets up on the apron. Rock brings Heyman into the ring and sets up for a Rock Bottom but Lesnar attacks him from behind. Heyman drops a chair into the ring and Lesnar jabs it into The Rock before applying a bear hug to the champion. Brock then hits a big Angle Slam type move, keeping the bear hug applied.

The Rock fights out of the bear hug and lays into Lesnar with right hands. Heyman gets up on the apron again, distracting the referee which allows The Rock to hit Lesnar with a low blow! Lesnar rams The Rock into the corner and drives his shoulder into his ribs. The Rock explodes out of the corner with a clothesline and then smacks Lesnar out of the ring to huge boos. The Rock then starts to take the Spanish announce table apart. He slaps Heyman and then slingshots Lesnar into the ringpost. The Rock then Rock Bottoms Heyman through the Spanish announce table! He rolls Lesnar back into the ring and motions for the Rock Bottom before hitting it in the middle of the ring. He hooks the leg but Lesnar kicks out! Lesnar then hits The Rock with a Rock Bottom and this time The Rock kicks out of the cover.

Both men get up and The Rock hits a spinebuster, he then bounces off the ropes for the People’s Elbow but Brock get up and nails him with a clothesline. Brock tries for the F5 but Rock nips down on his feet. Rock goes for a Rock Bottom but Brock counters into the F5. He hooks the leg and wins the match! Brock Lesnar wins the Undisputed WWE Championship! Brock becomes the youngest WWE Champion in history and it only took him 5 months. Good main event between these two.

Well that felt like a very very strong pay per view. From top to bottom the matches on paper looked exceptional and in most cases they lived up to expectation. Such an incredible roster at the moment, the only guy missing was Hulk Hogan. What I also love is that all 8 matches have never been done on PPV before. Kurt and Rey Mysterio kicked off the show and had an awesome match. These two have a lot of chemistry and I’m looking forward to seeing more from Mysterio in the coming months. I wouldn’t be too surprised to se him in the cruiserweight division but he obviously has potential to be a threat in the heavyweight division. Also wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch between these two guys next month.

Flair and Jericho put on a decent match. I was surprised to see Flair win. This feels like a one off for Summerslam so I don’t think there’ll be a rematch. Jericho hasn’t won a PPV match since February, can he get back to winning ways? Edge then beat Eddie Guerrero in another big match. Edge is getting a hell of a push at the moment, WWE like to push their own and that is exactly what’s happening with Edge. He is definitely headed for big things but I’d like to see Guerrero right up there with him. The Un-Americans beat Booker T and Goldust. I’d like to see more from these two teams. Booker and Goldust would be great with the titles but maybe it’s too early into Storm and Christians reign. The tag division is pretty poor at the moment so I can definitely see a rematch at the next PPV.

RVD became a 3 time Intercontinental Champion by beating Chris Benoit in another good match. The IC title goes back to Raw as a result. I wouldn’t mind seeing a tug of war between Raw and Smackdown over this title in the coming weeks Interestingly Stephanie McMahon didn’t seem phased by losing the title. Undertaker then beat Test in the most predictable match of the night. This seemed like a big step down from where Undertaker has been since Wrestlemania but the good thing about Undertaker is that he can go from the bottom to the top of the card with ease. It won’t affect Test too much, he works well as the bodyguard for Storm and Christian.

Shawn Michaels returned to the ring for one hell of a match with Triple H. I really enjoyed this one. It was brutal from start to finish. Was this just a one off for Michaels? I can’t see it being the case. There will definitely be a rematch next month after the way Triple H left Shawn. Then in the main event Brock Lesnar became WWE Champion. I don’t think I’ve ever known someone come from nowhere and win the belt within 6 months before. Brock is a beast and he has a great mouthpeice in Paul Heyman. The Rock was getting boo’d a lot in this one so a heel turn wouldn’t surprise me for him. Overall a fantastic PPV, one of the best shows of all time.
