Elimination Chamber is the final stop on the road to Wrestlemania and tonight’s stop features two huge Elimination Chamber matches that will set the stage for Wrestlemania 28. The WWE Championship will be defended in one with CM Punk defending his title against Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, The Miz, Kofi Kingston and Chris Jericho. The five contenders were announced by John Laurinaitis without any qualification required. Since then the rivalry between CM Punk and Chris Jericho has started to form. Chris Jericho claims that everyone in this match has ripped him off. A six pack challenge between the six men would decide who enters the Chamber last tonight and it was Chris Jericho that won the match. This should give him a big advantage.
The second Elimination Chamber will be for the World Heavyweight Championship. Teddy Long originally announced Daniel Bryan’s opponents to be Mark Henry, The Big Show, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. However Mark Henry would be suspended indefinitely by Teddy Long for threatening him and he was replaced by The Great Khali. Daniel Bryan would later attack Randy Orton, smashing him round the back of the head with his Championship belt which caused Randy Orton to get a concussion. Orton would then be taken out of the match and be replaced by the winner of a battle royal. Santino would shock the world by winning the battle royal and earning himself a spot in the Elimination Chamber.
Also tonight Beth Phoenix defends the Divas championship against Tamina. Tamina has had the better of Natalya as of late and came to the aid of Alicia Fox after Beth Phoenix gave her a post-match beatdown. Phoenix has claimed that there are no viable contenders to her DivaS Championship but could Tamina upset her tonight? The rivalry between John Cena and Kane also continues after the two men wrestled to a draw at The Royal Rumble PPV last month. The rivalry has continued with Kane completely taking out Zack Ryder. John Cena would save Eve from an attack at the hands of Kane resulting in Cena and Eve kissing. Zack Ryder saw it all and a rift has been caused between the two. Kane wants Cena to embrace the hate, could Cena full on heel turn before his match with The Rock at Wrestlemania?
Only four matches announced for tonight but I’d expect another match to be announced on the show.
Before the event, Hunico defeated Alex Riley in a dark match.
A video package kicks us off and it’s all about the Elimination Chamber matches on the final stop on the road to Wrestlemania.
Michael Cole welcomes us to Elimination Chamber 2012, he’s joined on commentary by Jerry “The King” Lawler and Booker T.
CM Punk (c) vs. Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Jericho – Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship
This match is loaded with talent. As Elimination chamber PPV records go, CM Punk is 0-2, Kofi is 0-2, R-Truth is 0-2, The Miz is 2-0, Dolph Ziggler is making his Elimination Chamber debut and Chris Jericho is 1-0. Chris Jericho, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth are the first four men out to the ring so they take their place in the pods. CM Punk and Kofi Kingston are the two men to start the match. We’re told that in the previous 13 Elimination Chamber matches, the champion has only retained three times. CM Punk one of two men to have wrestled on every PPV in 2011 along with Randy Orton. Kofi shows some athleticism in the early going, leaping over the top rope. Punk hits some kicks and knees. The two men exchange pinfalls and Kofi hits a dropkick for a one count. Kofi looks for a boom drop but Punk kicks him in the face. Punk looks to suplex Kofi to the outside but Kofi counters and almost hits a back drop on Punk. Punk catapults Kofi into one of the pods, the one that houses Chris Jericho. Back in the ring and Punk takes the advantage, laying in some boots and hitting a powerslam. Punk gets a two count and we’re ready for the third entrant.
Dolph Ziggler enters the match. I’m actually surprised that he didn’t start the match. Dolph goes straight for Punk, hitting a firemans carry on the steel. Dolph then scales up the side of the chamber, does a few pull-ups and then hits a sort of fame-asser on Punk. Ziggler looks like he hurt himself there. Ziggler covers Punk for a two count. Dolph then turns his attention to Kofi Kingston, hitting a splash in the corner and then looking for the same on Punk who moves out of the way. Kofi hits some clotheslines on Dolph and Punk slams Ziggler in the middle of the ring. Kofi then slams Ziggler and Punk hits Dolph with a dropkick. Kofi and Punk both look for springboard moves on Dolph but Dolph moves out of the way and the two men hit each other.
R-Truth enters the match. R-Truth goes right for Ziggler, hitting him with clotheslines and then hiptossing him out of the ring. Truth launches to the outside, hitting a splash on Dolph and hurting himself. My bets are on Truth being the first man eliminated. Back in the ring and Truth hits a scissors kick on Ziggler for a near fall. Punk then goes after Truth but runs into some boots. Punk hits a running knee on the second attempt and then a superplex for a near fall. Punk sends Kingston to the outside and then heads to the top and hits an elbow drop on Truth which is enough for the three! R-Truth has been eliminated.
Dolph rolls up Punk but Punk reverses the cover only to be hit in the face by Kofi with trouble in paradise! Kofi disposes of Ziggler and then pins Punk who kicks out at 2. Kofi springboards to the outside, landing on the chain and then looks for a cross body but Ziggler catches him only for Kofi to hit a DDT!
The Miz enters the match. and he hits his trademark clothesline on CM Punk before throwing him into the ringpost. Miz then throws Kofi into one of the pods. Miz slams Kofi on the outside and then back body drops Ziggler to the outside. Miz pins Dolph for a two count. Miz pops Kofi onto one of the top turnbuckles and then pushes him to the outside before pinning him for a two count. Miz hits a clothesline on CM Punk and then looks for another but Punk catches him, looking for a go to sleep but Miz counters and sets up for the skull crushing finale which Punk counters, rolling Miz up for a two count. Miz hits a low DDT for a two count. since I’ve got a 100% record so far tonight, I’ll guess that Kofi Kingston is the next man eliminated. Punk hits a neckbreaker on Miz and then a spinning powerslam for a two count. Punk then locks the anaconda vice on Miz!
Chris Jericho enters the match. CM Punk breaks the hold on Miz to go after Chris Jericho and the two men stare at one another. Jericho and Punk then slug it out with Jericho taking the advantage. Jericho looks to lock on the walls of Jericho but Punk counters. Punk then sets up for the go to sleep but Jericho counters and hits a bulldog. Jericho hits a lionsault for a near fall. Ziggler rolls Jericho up for a near fall. Jericho then hits the codebreaker on Ziggler and that’s it for Ziggler! Dolph Ziggler has been eliminated.
There goes my 100% record. Jericho goes after Kofi Kingston , throwing him into the chains on the outside. Jericho turns his attention to CM Punk but Punk slingshots Jericho out of the ring. Punk smashes Jericho off one of the pods before throwing him into it. Jericho then closes himself inside the pod. Punk forces his way in and beats Jericho down in the pod. Jericho takes the advantage and smashes the pod door off CM Punk’s arm. Jericho hits the SOS on Jericho on the outside. Miz then goes after Kofi, hitting him with right hands and knees. Miz looks for his trademark clothesline but Kofi counters with a pendulum kick. Kofi heads to the top but Miz meets him up there, looking for a superplex. Punk attacks Miz from behind and powerbombs him into the mat for a two count. Kofi climbs up to the top of the pod and dives off, cross-bodying both Punk and Miz! Kofi pins Miz for a two count. Jericho then locks the walls of Jericho on Kofi! Kofi taps! Kofi Kingston has been eliminated.
Jericho continues to lay into Kofi after he’s eliminated him, launching him out of the chamber. Punk then kicks Jericho in the face, sending him out of the chamber too! The referee’s check on Jericho who is out of it. They call for a doctor and there’s some serious chat. They’ve taken a big time out to check on Jericho, even Punk is watching. The cameraman is also down. This is a clever spot. Punk goes back to work on Miz but Miz hits a backbreaker. Punk hits a big kick to the head and gets a near fall. I think we’re down to just CM Punk and The Miz. Punk hits a running knee and bulldog for a near fall as doctors continue to check on Jericho outside the chamber. Punk looks for a springboard clothesline but Miz counters and hits the skull-crushing finale for a near fall. Miz hits Punk with left hands and knees before looking for a running shoulder charge which CM Punk avoids.
CM Punk hits go to sleep and that’s all she wrote! CM Punk wins the match, retaining his WWE Championship. Although Chris Jericho wasn’t eliminated. Punk goes on to Wrestlemania but who will be his opponent? It looks like they’re setting the scene for a match with Chris Jericho who still looks pretty strong coming out of this match.

Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Tamina – WWE Divas Championship
This is a first time PPV match between these two girls. Beth has a plaid belt on which is in respect for Roddy Piper who had battles with Tamina’s father, Jimmy Snuka. It’s an Elimination Chamber PPV debut for both girls. Tamina is looking for a first PPV victory tonight on the third time of asking. Beth gives Tamina the opportunity to leave as the bell rings but Tamina won’t go. Beth calls Tamina a coconut head. Tamina fires up and lays in some right hands and chops before pinning Beth for the first cover of the match. Tamina hits a headbutt and then heads to the top but Beth knocks her challenger to the outside. Beth lays into Tamina on the outside, hitting her with right hands and smashing her head off the mat. Phoenix mocks Tamina who beats the count. Beth hits an elbow drop for a one count. Phoenix then applies a chinlock which Tamina fights out of but Beth smashes her back into the mat and applies a dragon sleeper.
Tamina fights out of the dragon sleeper and hits a Samoan drop! Tamina then heads to the top again but again Beth gets up. Beth hits a superplex and what’s interesting is the pacing to this match. It’s not as rushed as a usual divas match suggesting they have more time than usual. The two girls slug it out and Tamina takes the advantage with chops and a clothesline. Tamina hits a splash in the corner and then a superkick before heading to the top for a third time and hitting the superfly splash! Tamina hooks the leg but Beth kicks out at 2! Tamina goes up again but Beth rolls out of the ring this time. Tamina rolls Phoenix back into the ring but Beth manages to throw Tamina into the ringpost and then the glam slam for the three! Beth Phoenix wins the match and retains her WWE DivaS Championship tonight. Good match between these two.

Rhodes then hits a moonsault on Barrett for a near fall before throwing him out of the ring and turning his attention to Santino. Rhodes targets Santino’s left hand, smashing it against the chains.
The Great Khali enters the match. This guy is the odd man out. He’s only returned recently and feels like he’s out of the loop. And he doesn’t really seem main event level these days. Khali lays into everyone, hitting Rhodes and Barrett with punjabi plunges and then hitting Santino with a big chop. Big Show hits Khali with a spear and pins him for the three! The Great Khali has been eliminated. Big Show stares at Daniel Bryan who is yet to enter the match. Big Show then climbs up the turnbuckle and tries to reach down at Bryan. Big Show then starts ripping the chains apart! Big Show climbs down into the pod! Show lays into the World Heavyweight Champion before he’s even officially entered the match!
Daniel Bryan officially enters the match. The door is opened and Daniel Bryan escapes the pod but Big Show catches him and launches him back into the pod! Barrett throws him out of the ring and then into the chains. Barrett ties Santino up in the chains and then lays in some kicks and knees. Barrett goes to work on Daniel Bryan, there’s a bit of a botch by Brian and some sloppy work then that results in Daniel Bryan locking on the LeBell lock. Barrett counters but Bryan kicks him away. Daniel Bryan wins the match and retains the World Heavyweight Championship. I surprisingly preferred this match to the previous Elimination Chamber match.

There’s a Wrestlemania promo and we’re then told that The Undertaker is going to call out Triple H on Raw tomorrow.
Next up is a VT for Kane and John Cena.
John Cena vs. Kane – Ambulance match
This is the second ever PPV match between these two men, the first came at the Royal Rumble last month and ended in a draw. John Cena has a 2-0 record at Elimination Chamber PPV’s and could be the first to go 3 for, in fact if he wins tonight then he’ll be the only man to have won at last years and this years event. Kane is 0-2 at the event. This is only the second ever ambulance match, the first was between Kane and Shane McMahon. The bell rings and John Cena goes right to work on Kane. Kane fires back with an uppercut and then throws Cena out of the ring. Kane smashes Cena off the barricade a few times and the two men take the fight up the aisle. Kane takes Cena down and then pulls a stretcher out from the ambulance before trying to put Cena in the ambulance. Cena pulls a backboard from a stretcher out and nails Kane with it a few times. The two men fight back towards the ring where Cena throws Kane into the steps. Cena rolls Kane back into the ring but Kane hits Cena with an uppercut.
Kane hits a big boot and then some right hands as Cena lays on the canvas. Kane hits an Irish whip and a clothesline. I love Kane’s new ring gear and I like the fact he’s wearing a mask again. The two men slug it out resulting in Kane hitting a sidewalk slam. Kane then heads to the top but Cena catches him with a dropkick. Cena hits a shoulder charge and a side suplex before hitting the five knuckle shuffle and setting up for the attitude adjustment but Kane counters it with a rake to the face. Kane then covers Cena’s face, looking at suffocating Cena which he does. Kane then drags Cena out of the ring and puts him in a wheelchair! Kane wheels Cena towards the ambulance but Cena wakes up. Kane then tries to suffocate Cena again but this time Cena fights him off. Cena throws Kane into the side of the ambulance and then smashes him with the wheelchair. Cena then puts Kane in the wheelchair and wheels him into a desk at the top of the entrance way. Kane nails Cena with a computer and then with the wheelchair.
Cena nails Kane with a chair a couple of times as the fight goes into the crowd. The two fight into the technical area and then back into the ringside area. Cena then nails Kane with a microphone and asks Booker T if that gets him a spot in his favourite five. Cena picks up a monitor and nails Kane with it. Cena picks up the stairs and hits Kane with them. Kane sets up the stairs next to the Spanish announce table and looks to hit an attitude adjustment but Kane instead counters with a chokeslam! Kane then goes up the entranceway and grabs the stretcher. Kane lays Cena on the stretcher and wheels him up the aisle. He dumps Cena in the ambulance but Cena just manages to fight out! Cena climbs on top of the ambulance and challenges Kane to follow! Kane does follows and the two men slug it out on top of the ambulance. Cena then hits an attitude adjustment on Kane off the ambulance!
Cena drops down and picks Kane up, dumping him inside the ambulance. Cena closes the doors and wins the match! Cena wins the main event at Elimination Chamber which puts him on course for The Rock at Wrestlemania. Good match between these two.

And that was Elimination Chamber 2012. It felt like a good show actually, it flowed well and there wasn’t a bad match on the card. The opening match for the WWE Championship was a lot of fun and had six really talented guys in it. CM Punk retained the WWE Championship although the real story was Chris Jericho getting knocked to the outside. I think they want to keep him strong as he’ll go on to challenge for the WWE title at Wrestlemania. This match was really well booked and made The Miz look strong too. I was surprised to see it open and not close the show though. Beth Phoenix then beat Tamina in the battle of the two biggest (physically) divas on the roster. Phoenix retained and I don’t know who could beat her for the title, she’s head and shoulder above the roster. It felt like the two girls here were given time and the match didn’t feel rushed. A good match between these two. Beth retains.
Then came the Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Daniel Bryan retained his title in a good match. I preferred this match to the previous Elimination Chamber match but only slightly. I loved the booking of Santino, it almost made you think it could happen. I like how everyone took shots at The Big Show and I also thought the booking for The Great Khali with him going out quickly was good booking too. It looks as though we’re heading for Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus at Wrestlemania. We then got a bonus match with Jack Swagger beating Justin Gabriel. I’m not against this match, it adds to the prestige of the United States Championship and also gives a big rub to Justin Gabriel who doesn’t feature on pay per view often. It was a decent enough match but Swagger retains.
John Cena then beat Kane in a match he had to beat before he goes on to Wrestlemania to take on The Rock. I really enjoyed this match actually and I really enjoy the resurrection of Kane. He’s much better with his mask and fake hair on. I liked this but I’m not sure it needed to main event the show. We could’ve opened with the World Heavyweight Championship match and then had Beth and Tamina, Cena and Kane, Swagger and Gabriel and then the WWE Championship match. This was the first pay per view in over three years, Cyber Sunday 2008, that Randy Orton hasn’t wrestled on. That is some run but it had to come to an end at some point.
