Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler. Let The Good Times Roll. Wrestlemania 30. I attended this pay per view and it was after being there that I decided I would go back and watch every single pay per view (as well as every Raw and Smackdown) and it has taken me six years to do it. I am of course six years behind current day now and I will be continuing as I’ve enjoyed the journey so much.
Wrestlemania 30 is headlined by the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Randy Orton is the champion following his successful defence inside the Elimination Chamber. Batista is the number one contender as he won the 2014 Royal Rumble match. But a third man will be entered into the match and Daniel Bryan faces Triple H to decide who that will be. Daniel Bryan forced Triple H’s hand by letting “fans” flood the ring and hold up the show. Triple H gave in and hopes to continue in making Daniel Bryan’s life a living hell. Batista and Randy Orton aren’t happy and Batista has changed his tune over recent weeks. The crowd turned on Batista at The Royal Rumble and now Batista has turned his back on the fane. But will we see three members of Evolution in the main event tonight or will Daniel Bryan make history?
Another huge match tonight pits The Undertaker against Brock Lesnar. Lesnar was unhappy at being left out of the Wrestlemania main event and so the authority allowed him to face whoever he wanted. The Undertaker would interrupt Brock and Heyman and went on to stab Lesnar with a pen and chokeslam him through a table. Tonight Lesnar looks to break the streak. Bray Wyatt cost John Cena matches at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber claiming that he wants to stop the lies that john Cena is spreading, mostly about himself. Wyatt wants to unleash the monster inside which has led to John Cena challenging Wyatt to a match at Wrestlemania, a challenge that was accepted.
Another big match tonight features The Shield, who have shown resistance form The Authority recently against the team of Kane and The New Age Outlaws. The Shield haven’t been happy with the way Kane has been treating them as of late and turned against him. The New Age Outlaws helped Kane out with getting revenge on The Shield, helping to cost Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose a chance at the WWE Tag Team Championships. Vickie Guerrero has also announced that AJ Lee, who referred to Guerrero as “Grandma”, must defend her WWE DivaS Championship against 13 of WWE’s Divas in a one fall to the finish match. The other divas involved in the match are Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Natalya, Eva Marie, Naomi, Cameron, Aksana, Alicia Fox, Layla, Summer Rae, Emma, Rosa Mendes and Tamina.
The other match announced for tonight is the first ever Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Hulk Hogan made the announcement with the winner receiving a trophy. It’ll feature 30 men including the likes of The Big Show, Mark Henry, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Big E, Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston. On the kick-off show will be a WWE Tag Team Championship match as The Usos defend against Ryback & Curtis Axel, Jack Swagger & Cesaro and Los Matadores.
On the Wrestlemania 30 kick-off show The Usos beat Los Matadores, Ryback& Curtis Axel and Cesaro & Jack Swagger (in that order) to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships.
The show kicks off with a really cool video package based on Bourbon Street. There are clips from Wrestlemania’s gone by and then it focuses on Brock Lesnar and Undertaker, John Cena and Bray Wyatt and Batista, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan and Triple H.
Michael Cole welcomes us to Wrestlemania 30. He’s joined by Jerry “The King” Lawler and John “Bradshaw” Layfield.
The host of Wrestlemania is the man to kick off the show, Hulk Hogan! Hulk Hogan botches the name of the building, calling it “The Silverdome” rather than “The Superdome” and the crowd let him know it. Hogan is interrupted by the glass shattering and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin makes his way to the ring. Austin says that it’s good to be back in the Silverdome. He goes on to say that he would usually open a can of whoop ass on whoever is in the ring. He gets a hell yeah for that. Austin says he has nothing but respect for Hogan. But tonight is about the current stars in the company. He is the interrupted by The Rock! The Rock gives us his catchphrases and also takes a dig at Hogan for being in the Superdome. The Rock puts over hogan and Austin as the two biggest names in the history of WWE. The three men have a lot of fun in what is possibly the best opening (non-match) segment to a pay per view ever. They share some beers.
We’re kicking off the show in a big way. There’s a video package for it, Daniel Bryan and Triple H.

And that was Wrestlemania 30. Or Yestlemania 30 if you will. This felt like a really good show although I’m probably bias because I was there in person and it was amazing. The opener was a lot of fun, Daniel Bryan beat Triple H in one of the best opening matches in Wrestlemania history. There was a lot of passion in this match and the crowd were so into it. Daniel bRyan won the match and goes on to the main event. Obviously I’m very happy about that but a triple threat between the three Evolution members would have been cool too. But the crowd would have shit all over it. Really great match and the result the crowd wanted. The Shield then beat Kane and The New Age Outlaws in a glorified squash. This was over very quickly which was probably right as The Shield have been so strong for the past 18 months. It was hard to believe a 4 hour Wrestlemania with only 7 matches needed a squash but it meant that the other matches could breathe and was probably the right decision.
Next up was the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and this match was a lot of fun. It got a lot of guys on the card which was a good thing. Cesaro was a surprise entrant and actually made it a 31 man match. It came down to Cesaro, Big Show, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. I like this as a final four, you would definitely have called Big Show, Alberto and Sheamus to be there. They had pushed Big Show as the favourite and due to his similarities to Andre The Giant it was cool to see him at the end. This is a big win for Cesaro though and I hope it leads to a big push. He’s very talented and this seems to be a face turn for the Swiss Superman. Good match. John Cena then beat Bray Wyatt in a really good match. I’m not totally happy with the result, I would have preferred to have seen Bray Wyatt win but the story was there and the two men put on a good match. It’s a first loss for Bray Wyatt but hopefully he doesn’t lose too much momentum.
And then came the most shocking result in WWE history. Brock Lesnar beat The Undertaker to end the streak. For over 20 years The Undertaker has held on to the streak just to have it ended by Brock Lesnar. I can’t decide if it was genius or stupid. The match was pretty disappointing but this was because The Undertaker actually got knocked out and didn’t know where he was for most of the match. That greatly affected the match but this match will only ever be remembered for Brock Lesnar breaking the streak. Without a doubt the most shocking moment in Wrestlemania history. The Divas then had their moment and it was nice to see all of the women featured on Wrestlemania. AJ Lee won the match and she has had a hell of a run as champion. She’s gone through the whole division so what could be next for her? I don’t know how long she’ll be around either considering the problems with her husband CM Punk and the company. A nice showcase for the women. It’ll be interesting to see if the feud with Naomi continues considering the way that AJ won.
Daniel Bryan then won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This was a fantastic main event and had the right amount of drama. There were points when you wondered whether Daniel Bryan was going to win but at the end of the day it was Bryan with his arm held high. Really fun main event and a great end to the show.
