Michael Cole welcomes us to the Thunderdome!
Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Sami Zayn vs. Jey Uso vs. King Corbin – Elimination Chamber match where the winner receives a shot at the Universal Championship tonight
Background: On the February 12 episode of SmackDown, WWE official Adam Pearce scheduled Universal Champion Roman Reigns to defend his title in an Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber. However, Reigns’ special counsel, Paul Heyman, pointed out that Reigns’ contract only stated that Reigns had to defend the championship at the event, but not necessarily inside of the eponymous structure. To Pearce’s displeasure, it was then decided that the winner of SmackDown’s Elimination Chamber match at the event would get an immediate championship match against Reigns that same night. Pearce named Reigns’ cousin, Jey Uso, and Kevin Owens, who Reigns defeated at the Royal Rumble in a Last Man Standing match, as the first two participants for the match, with the other four spots determined by qualification matches that same episode. Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn then qualified by defeating Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio in a tag team match, and later, Cesaro and Daniel Bryan defeated SmackDown Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode in a non-title tag team match to fill the final two spots.
Previous PPV matches: This is a first time 6 way match between these men.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Kevin Owens is 1-0 at Elimination Chamber events, Cesaro is 2-2, Daniel Bryan is 3-2, Cesaro is 3-2, Sami Zayn is 1-0 and Jey Uso is 1-2.
Match: Daniel Bryan and Cesaro are the two men to kick off the match and it’s a fast paced start. Two of the best technical wrestlers on the roster starting the match. It’s back and forth between the two men in a battle between Bryan’s speed and Cesaro’s strength. The first man to leave his pod is King Corbin who comes in fresh and targets hte knee of Daniel Bryan. Corbin looks strong and is the only man standing as Sami Zayn enters the match. Well, Sami doesn’t, he stays in his pod until Cesaro pulls him out. Sami attempts a helluva kick on Bryan but Bryan moves and Zayn hits a pod. Zayn and Cesaro fight on top of a pod and then Zayn shuffles across the chamber in persuit by Cesaro who kicks him off and then does pull-ups from the top of the chamber. Cesaro hits a top rope flying uppercut on Corbin and then swings him around and around. Cesaro locks on a sharpshooter and Corbin taps out! Kevin Owens enters next and Sami Zayn gets right in his ear that they should team up but Owens throws him into the side of the pods.
Kevin Owens hits cannonballs on Cesaro, Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn. There are four wrestlers in the ring that all had success on the independents. They all hit finishers on each other and they are all down. Jey Uso, the last entry, finally makes it into the match. KO goes right after his rival before scaling a pod and hitting a moonsault on all four competitors below. Owens hits stunners on Bryan, Cesaro and Zayn before pinning Sami for the three. As Zayn leaves, Jey Uso manages to trap Owens arm in the door. Jey follows it up with a splash which is enough for the three. Cesaro hits an uppercut and a flying elbow drop on Jey Uso for a near fall. Cesaro counters a running knee from Daniel Bryan and then swings him around but Jey Uso catches him with a superkick. Jey hooks the leg and gets the three. We’re down to just Jey Uso and Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan hits a running knee on Jey Uso to win the match!
Result: Daniel Bryan wins, last eliminating Jey Uso
Cesaro eliminates King Corbin
Kevin Owens eliminates Sami Zayn
Jey Uso eliminates Kevin Owens
Jey Uso eliminates Cesaro
Daniel Bryan eliminates Jey Uso
Review: This was a good match. There was a lot of good talent in the match so you would expect it to be a good one. Daniel Bryan wins which puts him in the main event picture. Jey Uso did a good job, eliminating Kevin Owens and Cesaro. The story was good and I like Bryan winning. He went the distance too which probably spells bad news for his match with Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns comes right out following the match for his match against Daniel Bryan.
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan – Universal Championship match
Background: Daniel Bryan wins the Elimination chamber match which means he gets a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns. We don’t have any time to wait because the match starts now.
Previous PPV matches: These two men have met on PPV once before and Roman Reigns won.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Daniel Bryan is 4-2, Roman Reigns is 2-1.
Match: Roman Reigns gets in the ring, the bell rings and Reigns looks for a spear but Bryan counters and locks on the LeBell lock! Reigns powers out and then beats down Bryan with right hands and a powerbomb. Roman then locks on the guillotine and Daniel Bryan passes out.
Result: Roman Reigns wins by technical knockout.
Review: Well this was short. It was designed to give Reigns a title defence and he got it. Bryan doesn’t look too weak coming out of it because he went the distance in the elimination chamber. It was all for nothing though. Reigns continues on as an unstoppable Universal Champion.
After the match Edge appears from nowhere and spears Roman! Edge then points to the Wrestlemania sign and it looks like we have a Universal Championship match for Wrestlemania.
Sonya Deville is backstage talking to Bad Bunny. The Miz shows up and asks him why he’s here. Bad Bunny is 24/7 Champion. Miz pushes Bad Bunny and Bad Bunny replies with a slap. Damien Priest then appears and Miz backs off.
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Riddle vs. John Morrison – Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship
Background: In December 2020, Riddle began a feud with United States Champion Bobby Lashley. On the January 4 episode of Raw, Riddle defeated Lashley in a non-title match to earn a title match the following week, however, Riddle lost to Lashley. On the January 25 episode, Riddle earned another title opportunity against Lashley by defeating Lashley’s fellow Hurt Business stablemates in a gauntlet match. Riddle received his title match the following week on Raw where Riddle would defeat Lashley by disqualification, but did not win the championship. The following week, Riddle confronted Keith Lee, where he stated that he needed to win the United States Championship. Lee, however, took issue with Riddle losing his title matches and then stated that it was time for someone else to step up to Lashley. Lee then stated that he would defeat Lashley and he could also beat Riddle. Later that night, Lee defeated Riddle. Following the match, Lashley attacked Lee and Riddle. Lashley was subsequently scheduled to defend the United States Championship against Lee and Riddle at Elimination Chamber. The day of the event, however, Lee was pulled from the match due to a reported injury. A fatal four-way match was then scheduled for the Kickoff pre-show between Ricochet, Elias, John Morrison, and Mustafa Ali to fill Lee’s vacated spot in the triple threat match for the U.S. title.
Previous PPV matches: This is a first time triple threat match between these three men.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: John Morrison is 1-2, Bobby Lashley is 0-1 and Riddle fights at this event for the first time tonight.
Match: Lashley goes right for Riddle as the bell rings. It soon turns into a 2 on 1 match as Morrison and Riddle look to take down Lashley. Lashley tosses both men around inside and outside the ring. Riddle and Morrison look to double team Lashley again but Bobby hits a big spinebuster on Morrison and a dominator on Riddle. Lashley looks so good in this match. Riddle manages to pull Lashley out of the ring and Morrison hits a corkscrew plancha on the champion. Morrison and Riddle then go at it with Riddle hitting a Pele kick and a German suplex for a near fall. Lashley gets back into the match but Riddle hits him with a floating bro and Morrison hits Bobby with starship pain for a two count. MVP shouts to his client from the outside. Lashley applies the hurt lock to Morrison but Riddle smashes MVP’s crutch into Lashley, sending him out of the ring. Riddle hits Morrison with bro-derek for the three!
Result: Riddle wins the United States Championship by pinfall.
Review: This was a fun match. Lashley looked like an absolute beast, dominating for the most part. John Morrison was in there to take the fall but he had some great spots in there too. In the end it was Riddle who wins the match and the United States Championship. That’s a good spot for Riddle and we should get a US title match at Wrestlemania. Hopefully Lashley moves on the main event scene because he should definitely be in there.
There’s an ad for WWE Supercard.
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Sasha Banks & Binaca Belair – Women’s Tag Team Championship match
Background: Bianca Belair still has a decision to make over who she wrestles at Wrestlemania and it could be Sasha Banks but tonight they team up to take on women’s tag team champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
Previous PPV matches: This is a first time tag team match between these two teams.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Shayna Baszler is 1-0, Nia Jax is 0-2, Sasha Banks is 1-1 and Bianca Belair wrestles at this event for the first time tonight.
Match: Bianca Belair and Nia Jax kick off the match, two of the strongest women in the division but Bianca beats her for pace. There’s a couple of miscommunications involving Bianca, Nia and Sasha, clunky. Shayna Baszler tags in and the match settles. Baszler picks apart Sasha Banks with joint manipulation and submission holds. Shayna and Nia make tags, keeping Sasha away from Bianca. Bianca does get the tag but as Shayna attempt to lock on the kirafuta clutch, Sasha tags back in. Banks hits a frog splash for a two count. Belair hits the KOD on Shayna but Nia breaks up the pinfall attempt. Bianca can’t lift Nia up for the KOD. All hell breaks loose with all four girls. Sasha hits a meteora for a near fall. Reggie then comes out from the back as Sasha locks the Banks statement on Nia Jax. Jax gets to the bottom rope and Reggie rolls Sasha a bottle of champagne. That distracts her long enough for Nia to hit Banks with a Samoan drop for the three!
Result: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler retain the women’s tag team championships by pinfall.
Review: This was an alright match. I didn’t dislike it but it wasn’t a memorable one. Pretty average really. Sasha and Bianca lose and I think they’re headed for a clash at Wrestlemania. Nia and Shayna will probably defend the women’s tag team championships at the event too. Reggie is the wildcard considering he is supposed to be associated with Carmella. Does she get involved with all of this somehow?
The commentators plug Fastlane, the next WWE PPV.
MVP and The Miz are shown talking backstage.
There’s a VT next for the main event.
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston – Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship
Background: After Sheamus was drafted to the Raw brand in the 2020 WWE Draft, he re-established his old friendship with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. However, on the February 1, 2021 episode of Raw, Sheamus turned on McIntyre, declaring that he was not his friend and wanted the WWE Championship. Later, McIntyre accepted Sheamus’ challenge for a one-on-one match. The following week, however, WWE officials Adam Pearce and Shane McMahon announced that McIntyre would defend the WWE Championship against five former WWE Champions in an Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber, which included Sheamus, as well as Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and Mr. Money in the Bank The Miz. After a heated confrontation with McIntyre during a “Miz TV” segment the following week, Miz removed himself from Raw’s Elimination Chamber match. Backstage, The New Day’s Kofi Kingston confronted Pearce about the vacant spot due to being a former WWE Champion. Miz also confronted Pearce, wanting to give his vacant spot to his tag team partner John Morrison, who despite not being a former WWE Champion, Miz reminded Pearce and Kingston that Morrison was a former ECW World Champion. Pearce then scheduled a match between Kingston and Miz where if Miz won, Morrison would take his place, but if Kingston won, he would be in the match. Kingston won the ensuing match. Later that night, a gauntlet match was held between the six Elimination Chamber match participants to determine who would enter the chamber last. Sheamus won by last eliminating McIntyre.
Previous PPV matches: This is a first time PPV match involving these 6 men.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Drew McIntyre is 1-1, Kofi Kingston is 1-6, AJ Styles is 0-3, Randy Orton is 2-4, Jeff Hardy is 0-1, Sheamus is 1-5.
Match: The two men to kick off the match are Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton. I think Randy might be the only man in this match to have wrestled singles PPV matches with everyone else in the match. Randy takes the early advantage at his usual slow pace. The WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is the next man to enter the match. McIntyre tosses Jeff Hardy into the side of Kofi Kingston’s pod and nearly takes out the cameraman. Kofi Kingston enters next. Kofi goes right to work on Orton and actually pins him and gets the three out of nowhere! Orton, albeit eliminated, hits Kofi with an RKO and then Jeff Hardy with an RKO! As Orton leaves, Omos pulls the glass off the back of AJ Style’s pod allowing Styles to get out the back and enter the chamber through the door. He pins both Kofi and Hardy but gets near falls on both.
Adam Pearce sends Omos to the back. Drew McIntyre dominates for the net few minutes until eventually Sheamus gets into the match. McIntyre and Sheamus slug it out and take out anyone else that tries to get involved. Nobody is eliminated for quite a long time. Jeff Hardy is laid out from the throw into the pod for a long time. There’s some nice shots from outside the chamber, especially as Kofi climbs to the top of a pod. Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles hits a powerbomb on McIntyre who in turn hits a superplex on Sheamus. Kofi then dives off the top of a pod with a trust fall, taking out all four men. Sheamus hits a brogue kick on Kofi which is enough to eliminate him from the match. Jeff hits twists of fates on AJ Styles and Drew McIntyre and then a swanton bomb on AJ but turns around into a claymore from McIntyre! Drew hooks the leg and gets the three.
We’re down to Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and AJ Styles. Drew hits Sheamus with a Glasgow kiss but Sheamus responds with white noise. AJ hits a springboard 450 splash on McIntye for a near fall. Sheamus lays into Styles and motions for a brogue kick but McIntyre hits Sheamus with a futureshock DDT. Drew looks for a claymore but Sheamus counters and hits a brogue kick! AJ Styles then hits a phenomenal forearm on Sheamus to get the elimination! Styles looks for a springboard but McIntyre hits him with a claymore to win the match!
Result: Drew McIntyre wins the match, last eliminating AJ Styles.
Kofi Kingston eliminates Randy Orton
Sheamus eliminates Kofi Kingston
Drew McIntyre eliminates Jeff Hardy
AJ Styles eliminates Sheamus
Drew McIntyre eliminates AJ Styles
Review: This was a fun elimination chamber match. It was very even between most of the competitors in the match for a long time. Randy getting eliminated early was a shocker. I also didn’t expect Styles to be in the last two. There wasn’t a lot of high spots in this one, it was made to fee like a heavyweight clash. Drew McIntyre retains the WWE Championship tonight.
After the match the chamber is raised and Bobby Lashley appears from nowhere and attacks Drew McIntyre. He hits a spear and then tosses Drew around ringside. Bobby then applies the hurt lock to McIntyre and slams him into the canvas. The Miz then runs in with a referee. He’s cashing in his money in the bank contract!
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. The Miz – WWE Championship match
Background: The Miz won the Money In The Bank contract by defeating Otis and he is now casshing it in!
Previous PPV matches: This is a first time PPV meeting between these two men.
Elimination Chamber PPV Record: Drew McIntyre is 1-1, The Miz is 3-5.
Match: The Miz hits a low DDT and then thew skull-crushing finals and that’s all she wrote!
Result: The Miz wins the WWE Championship by pinfall.
Review: Well this was short and sweet but we have a new WWE Champion. This is a shocker to be honest, I have no idea why this has happened so close to Wrestlemania. The Miz vs. McIntyre at Wrestlemania? Surely Bobby Lashley will be involved. Who knows. But The Miz leaves tonight as WWE Champion!
Well this was an interesting enough pay per view. It’s a show that has really changed the path to Wrestlemania for a lot of people. Daniel Bryan won the opening Elimination Chamber match, this was a good match but all that was for nothing when Roman Reigns came out after the bell and beat him very quickly. It makes you think what the point in Bryan winning was unless this is going to lead to something bigger. Riddle then won the United States Championship from Bobby Lashley, albeit not beating Lashley but Morrison. I like this, Riddle is a good choice for that title and I hope it means that Bobby Lashley is being pushed towards the main event.
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler continued their dominance in the tag team division when they beat Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. I look forward to the Wrestlemania match between Belair and Banks but this was just one bend on the journey to get there. This match was ok. Drew McIntyre won a good Elimination Chamber match to retain the WWE Championship but shockinlgy after the match he was attacked by Bobby Lashley and then Miz cashed in his Money In The Bank contract to win the WWE Championship. Could Miz be involved in another Wrestlemania main event? It certainly looks like he, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre could all be involved there. A good show tonight, not a bad match on the show.
Overall Rating: 64.37/100 (ranked joint 94th out of 398)
Match Of The Night: Both Elimination Chamber matches
Worst Match Of The Night: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair
Surprise Of The Night: The Miz cashes in MITB and wins the WWE Championship
Worst Booking Of The Night: Daniel Bryan losing in seconds to Roman Reigns

Elimination Chamber 2021 Will Be Remembered For: The Miz winning the WWE Championship
