Welcome to my second stat pack. A stat pack is a blog full of statistics based on the pay per views reviewed so far. The last pack was posted after the fifth PPV review and this one is posted after the tenth.

So what’s gone down since the last stat pack? Well we’ve had two Survivor Series’, Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania IV and a Summerslam. 1988 was the first year with four pay per views. Four of those pay per views were gimmicky with Summerslam being the only PPV with matches based on feuds.

Hulk Hogan finally dropped the World Heavyweight title amid controversy and “Macho Man” Randy Savage won the belt in a tournament at Wrestlemania IV. Most of 1988 was dominated by main events involving Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant & Ted Dibiase. There was only one World title match in this period and that was the tournament final between Savage and Dibiase.

The Intercontinental title went from Ricky Steamboat to Honky Tonk Man to Ultimate Warrior. Honky was involved in the Intercontinental title picture through and Brutus Beefcake also got a shot at Wrestlemania. Savage also feuded with Honky Tonk Man at the end of 1987. The Tag Titles went from The Hart Foundation to Strike Force to Demolition. Demolition were the only team to successfully defend the tag titles on pay per view ever. The tag scene went from a high flying scene to a heavyweight one with the Powers Of Pain also getting involved with Demolition.

The last five pay per views saw PPV debuts of The Ultimate Warrior, The Powers Of Pain, One Man Gang, Bam Bam Bigelow, Akeem, Demolition, Rick Rude, The Rockers, The Brainbusters, The Blue Blazer, Mr Perfect and Bad News Brown. But how will this affect the stats? Well let’s take a look at how they weigh up after ten pay per views.

I think it’s fair to say I’m a fan of tag team matches. Hence why the two Survivor Series’ are top 2 on the list. 1987 seems to be the top year with both Wrestlemania III & Survivor Series 87 making two of the top three. There’s a huge difference between 1988 & 1985 , nearly a 6 average rating. The latest pay per view has the highest rating too and is the only PPV to have a rating over 50. Maybe this is a good sign for the future?

Those are the seven wrestlers that have fought on the most amount of pay per views from the first ten. Hulk Hogan only missed the Royal Rumble 88 although was there to sign a match contract with Andre the Giant whilst Nikolai only missed The Big Event. The other five guys all missed two. With Muraco, JYD and Steamboat all gone from the WWE at this point, I think it’s fair to say they’ll be dropping off this list soon.

The top ten on this list feature a lot of the guys who are on the most pay per view appearance list and a few extras. Those extras of course prevailed in tournament held at The Wrestling Classic and Wrestlemania IV. Randy Savage is the king of the tournament having reached the finals of both. It’ll be hard for anybody to catch Savage on this list for a while.

In the last stat pack you only needed 60% to get on this list but now it’s a little bit higher. The top four have all won 100% of their matches but they have only had two matches. Savage is the most impressive stat there having won 84.6% of his 13 matches. Bobby Heenan is on the list having won both of the six man tag matches he was involved in. Hogan loses his top spot having failed to win at Survivor Series 87 & Wrestlemania IV.

Randy Savage goes from fourth on the win list in stat pack 1 to top this time round. Steamboat and Hogan stay on the list as do JYD and Dynamite Kid, although the latter two haven’t won a match since stat pack volume 1. Ultimate Warrior flies onto the list showing how much of a push he’s getting whilst Andre and Jake Roberts also join the bottom. There are a few wrestlers with one draw to their name but only Orndorff and Muraco have two, one of which was with each other. Greg Valentine is the only survivor from last packs loss list. Volkoff tops it having lost 7 of his matches. JYD and Dynamite Kid are the only guys to feature on the most wins and most losses list.

Wow, everybody on this list has 100% loss record with a minimum of 2 matches. Boris Zhukov tops the list and has not had a lot of luck since coming in and teaming with Nikolai Volkoff. He’s been involved with every PPV since the last stat pack and has lost on every single one. Ron Bass, Koko B. Ware and Ken Patera aren’t far behind having lost on 4 of the last 5 PPVs. Leilani Kai, Velvet McIntyre and Judy Martin enter the list representing the ladies and all have lost every match they’ve had. Bob Orton who was on the top of the list last time sits on the bottom of this one.

Unsurprisingly Hulk Hogan sits atop of this list. He has been World Champion for the majority of the ten PPVs this covers whilst Randy Savage who has also been World champion sits in second. Ted Dibiase main evented 3 of the 4 PPVs in 1988 and George Gray is a surprising name to this list but has been in the main event to both Survivor Series PPVs under two different monikers.

There are three additions to this list since the last stat pack. Savage and Steamboat still hold the rights to the best match with the main event of that matches PPV in second. The Summerslam 88 main event is the highest new entrant. What’s interesting is that Hulk Hogan or Randy Savage feature in every match. Strong World Champions.

This list is pretty much as before but I’ve added a few more matches to the bottom. Adrian Adonis is still the only man to feature twice on the list. The Warrior/Hercules match is now the most recent.

With .63 between #1 and #10 on this list, it is very close. Hulk Hogan sits on top of the list having been in good matches with the likes of Andre The Giant, Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. The next three on the list have benefited greatly from multiman matches. The only three to survive from the stat pack 1 list are Hogan, Piper and Dory Funk Jr. All of which were in the top 5 before. If nothing else, this shows that match quality is going up.

Only 4 of the last list stay on it this time round. Corporal Kirchner, Adrian Adonis, Billy Jack Haynes & Ted Arcidi are now joined by 5 ladies and Tama. Women’s matches are never the most entertaining so them being on the list isn’t a suprise to anybody. Harley Race, Don Muraco, JYD, Hercules & Nikolai Volkoff have all escaped this list although some were very close.

Managers don’t seem to have a lot of success. Unless you’re manager of Randy Savage that is. Most of the others have only managed two matches and won one and lost one. Except for Frenchy Martin who won two of his four matches managed.

Three of the most experienced managers Jimmy Hart, Bobby Heenan & Slick fall into this list. Slick was actually top of the highest win percentage list last time round but now he’s on this one. Jimmy Hart only manages one in three wins which isn’t great. Bam Bam Bigelow isn’t having any success under Humperdink either.
