Hello and welcome to the fifth stat pack. I do these after every five pay per views reviewed so now we’re 25 PPVs down, it’s time for a new pack. For those that don’t know, a stat pack is just a collection of statistics that have accumulated over the PPVs reviewed so far. And being that this is the 25th anniversary so to speak, I will be doing a top 25 for a lot of the lists in this blog.

Since the last stat pack many things have changed. Hulk Hogan was World Heavyweight champion having just beaten Sgt Slaughter for the gold at Summerslam. Since then his feud continued with Slaughter then Hogan lost the belt at Survivor Series to Undertaker before winning it back at This Tuesday In Texas.

Following Wrestlemania VII Mr Perfect was Intercontinental champion but at Summerslam he lost the gold to Bret Hart. Bret is still champion now having successfully defended his title against Skinner at This Tuesday In Texas. The Nasty Boys were Tag Team Champions following Wrestlemania but they lost the titles to The Legion Of Doom at Summerslam. Hawk and Animal are still champions now.

Also since Wrestlemania VII we’ve had debuts for Ric Flair The Bezerker, Skinner and The Beverley Brother and we’ve seen repackages of The Iron Sheik as Colonal Mustafa, Mike Rotunda as I.R.S, Tito Santana as El Matador, Tugboat as Typhoon.

Summerslam 1991 is the highest new entry to the pay per view chat. It was the best Summerslam I have reviewed so far with the Bret Hart/ Mr Perfect match being a highlight. Wrestlemania VII is the lowest new entry and suffered from the same problem as a lot of Wrestlemanias with a weak undercard and squashes. The top three stay the same with Survivor Series 89 to crack a 60+ score. 1991 also comes in as the third top year so far, with 1991 holding onto top place.

The top ten on this list looks very familiar. Hulk Hogan stays atop of the list having only not had matches at The Royal Rumble 1988 and Battle Royal at The Albert Hall. Tito Santana stays in second whilst Bret Hart and Hercules stay in third. Jake Roberts, Jim Neidhart, Greg Valentine and Randy Savage follow the top three meaning that the top 8 are exactly the same as on the last stat pack. This time though Haku and smash are replaced in the top ten by Ted Dibiase and Jacques Rougeaus/The Mountie. Haku and Smash are still in the top 15 but they’ll continue to plummet as neither are about anymore. All of the top 23 on this list have wrestled on over half the the pay per views that I have received so far.

Again this list looks fairly similar to the last one. Hulk Hogan is joint top on this one with Tito Santana. Both men pulled double duty at Survivor Series 1990 whilst Tito also had a few matches at The Wrestling Classic. This is the first list that Randy Savage hasn’t been top of and this is because he was retired at Wrestlemania VII and only returned on the last show. Jacques Rougeaus enters the top ten for the first ever time. With the likes of Hercules, Greg Valentine and Jim Neidhart seemingly on the way out it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for them to fall out of the top 10.

For this list, I decided to just include those with over 50% win percentage. Hence just the top 13. Mr T and The Jumping Bomb Angels stay top of the list having won both of their matches. Ricky Steamboat goes from sixth to third having had a comeback match at Summerslam 1991 and won it. The Mountie drops off the list entirely whilst Virgil drop down from joint first to ninth. Because of that Hogan jumps up one spot from fifth to fourth. Ultimate Warrior jumps up two spots whilst Randy Savage and Tama both rise up one. Ric Flair and Jerry Saggs are new entries in the top 10 whilst The Legion Of Doom and The British Bulldog make up the list.

For the most wins list we have the same top three this time as we did five PPVs ago. And although Steamboat keeps his fourth place, he now shares it with The British Bulldog and Ted Dibiase. The draws list mostly looks the same as last time except this time round I have included every wrestler that has drawn a match on pay per view. The Most losses list is similar to the last one too with the most notable rise coming from The Rockers who enter the list for the first ever time.

Hulk Hogan obviously keeps his place at the top of this list. Warrior jumps up to joint second and if he or Randy Savage want to top the list they would have to main event the next 12 PPVs without Hogan featuring. Unlikely. Sgt Slaughter is a new entrant in at joint fourth whilst everyone from 8th place down have main evented 2 shows.

These tag team lists are just based on 2 vs 2 tag team matches. So it’s The Legion Of Doom that are top of the lists with wins over the likes of Power & Glory and The Nasty Boys. The next two teams are former Tag Team champions and also boast a 100% win record, winning both of their PPV matches. The Bushwhackers and Nasty Boys are rather suprisingly high on the list whilst Demolition are the only other team to have a higher win % that 50.

Ric Flair made his PPV debut at Battle Royal at The Albert Hall with a win over Tito Santana. It was a good match and a solid debut for Flair and he hasn’t had a bad match since. Tony Atlas and Red Rooster jump up a couple of place whilst Hogan falls down one. I still think it’s a testament to Hogan that he’s had so many matches and yet still ranks high on this list. Tugboat/Typhoon falls down five places and the Legion of Doom slip down the list too. Ultimate Warrior drops out of the top 10 to 12th whilst Brian Knobbs slips all the way down to 19th.

The only different in the top ten of this list is The Mountie completely dropping out of not only the top 10 but the top 25 and I.R.S going in straight into the top 10. He’s had two matches since the debut of the character and the quality has been quite low so far. Especially his match against Greg Valentine. There aren’t many in the top 25 that are still wrestling now. In fact nobody besides I.R.S has fought on the last four PPVs. It definitely seems as though match quality is improving.

To determine this list is a complex formula that takes into consideration matches had, matches won, match quality and main events. The top three is the same as last time with Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior taking the top spots. Ted Dibiase and Ricky Steamboat swap places to make up the top 5. Bret Hart, Jim Duggan and Jim Neidhart also keep their spots in the top 10 whilst The British Bulldog and Earthquake enter the top 10 for the firs time. Jake Roberts suprisingly drops out of the top 10 with Ax who hasn’t wrestled since the last stat pack. Andre The Giant only just makes it onto this list, in at #25 which is also a suprise.

A few new entrants on this list as it goes from a top 5 to a top 10. The top 3 stay the same though and are joined in the top 6 by Hulk Hogans 3rd World Title reign and Bret Hart and Legion Of Dooms current respective Intercontinental and Tag Team championship reigns. The rest of the top 10 are made up from heel Intercontinental reigns where they all successfully defended titles in the luckiest of ways.
