Stat Pack Vol 5

Hello and welcome to the fifth stat pack. I do these after every five pay per views reviewed so now we’re 25 PPVs down, it’s time for a new pack. For those that don’t know, a stat pack is just a collection of statistics that have accumulated over the PPVs reviewed so far. And being that this is the 25th anniversary so to speak, I will be doing a top 25 for a lot of the lists in this blog.

Since the last stat pack many things have changed. Hulk Hogan was World Heavyweight champion having just beaten Sgt Slaughter for the gold at Summerslam. Since then his feud continued with Slaughter then Hogan lost the belt at Survivor Series to Undertaker before winning it back at This Tuesday In Texas.

Following Wrestlemania VII Mr Perfect was Intercontinental champion but at Summerslam he lost the gold to Bret Hart. Bret is still champion now having successfully defended his title against Skinner at This Tuesday In Texas. The Nasty Boys were Tag Team Champions following Wrestlemania but they lost the titles to The Legion Of Doom at Summerslam. Hawk and Animal are still champions now.

Also since Wrestlemania VII we’ve had debuts for Ric Flair The Bezerker, Skinner and The Beverley Brother and we’ve seen repackages of The Iron Sheik as Colonal Mustafa, Mike Rotunda as I.R.S, Tito Santana as El Matador, Tugboat as Typhoon.

PPV Ranking

1. Survivor Series 89 (61/100)

23. Wrestlemania VI (41/100)
24. The Big Event (38/100)

Year Ranking

1. 1990 (50.75)
2. 1989 (50.5)
3. 1991 (49.8)
4. 1987 (47)
5. 1988 (46)
6. 1985 (40.5)
7. 1986 (39.5)

Summerslam 1991 is the highest new entry to the pay per view chat. It was the best Summerslam I have reviewed so far with the Bret Hart/ Mr Perfect match being a highlight. Wrestlemania VII is the lowest new entry and suffered from the same problem as a lot of Wrestlemanias with a weak undercard and squashes. The top three stay the same with Survivor Series 89 to crack a 60+ score. 1991 also comes in as the third top year so far, with 1991 holding onto top place.

Most Pay Per Views Wrestled On

1. Hulk Hogan (23)
2. Tito Santana (21)
3= Bret “Hitman” Hart (20)
3= Hercules (20)
5. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (19)
6. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart (18)
7. Greg “The Hammer” Valentine (17)
8= “Macho Man” Randy Savage (16)
8= “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (16)
8= Jacques Rougeaus/The Mountie (16)
11= Haku (15)
11= “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan (15)
11= Barry Darsow (15)
14= The Big Boss Man (14)
14= The British Bulldog (14)
14= Shawn Michaels (14)
14= Marty Jannetty (14)
14= Smash (14)
14= The Warlord (14)
14= The Ultimate Warrior (14)
21= Andre The Giant (13)
21= Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (13)
21= Dino Bravo (13)

The top ten on this list looks very familiar. Hulk Hogan stays atop of the list having only not had matches at The Royal Rumble 1988 and Battle Royal at The Albert Hall. Tito Santana stays in second whilst Bret Hart and Hercules stay in third. Jake Roberts, Jim Neidhart, Greg Valentine and Randy Savage follow the top three meaning that the top 8 are exactly the same as on the last stat pack. This time though Haku and smash are replaced in the top ten by Ted Dibiase and Jacques Rougeaus/The Mountie. Haku and Smash are still in the top 15 but they’ll continue to plummet as neither are about anymore. All of the top 23 on this list have wrestled on over half the the pay per views that I have received so far.

Most Pay Per View Matches

1= Hulk Hogan (24)
1= Tito Santana (24)
3= Hercules (22)
3= “Macho Man” Randy Savage (22)
5. Bret “Hitman” Hart (20)
6= Jake “The Snake” Roberts (19)
6= “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (19)
8= Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart (18)
8= Greg “The Hammer” Valentine (18)
10. Jacques Rougeaus/The Mountie (17)
11. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan (16)
12= Haku (15)
12= Barry Darsow (15)
12= Big Boss Man (15)
12= The British Bulldog (15)
12= Shawn Michaels (15)
12= Marty Jannetty (15)
12= The Warlord (15)
12= Ultimate Warrior (15)
20. Smash (14)
21= Andre The Giant (13)
21= Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (13)
21= Dino Bravo (13)
21= Ric Martel (13)
21= The Barbarian (13)

Again this list looks fairly similar to the last one. Hulk Hogan is joint top on this one with Tito Santana. Both men pulled double duty at Survivor Series 1990 whilst Tito also had a few matches at The Wrestling Classic. This is the first list that Randy Savage hasn’t been top of and this is because he was retired at Wrestlemania VII and only returned on the last show. Jacques Rougeaus enters the top ten for the first ever time. With the likes of Hercules, Greg Valentine and Jim Neidhart seemingly on the way out it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for them to fall out of the top 10.

Highest Win Percentage (Minimum 2 matches)

1= Mr T 100% (2 matches)
1= The Jumping Bomb Angels 100% (2 matches)
3. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat 80% (10 matches)
4. Hulk Hogan 79% (24 matches)
5. The Ultimate Warrior 73% (15 matches)
6= Tama 66.6% (3 matches)
6= Ric Flair 66.6% (3 matches)
8. “Macho Man” Randy Savage 63% (22 matches)
9= Virgil 60% (5 matches)
9= Jerry Saggs 60% (5 matches)
11= Animal 57% (7 matches)
11= Hawk 57% (7 matches)
13. The British Bulldog 53% (15 matches)

For this list, I decided to just include those with over 50% win percentage. Hence just the top 13. Mr T and The Jumping Bomb Angels stay top of the list having won both of their matches. Ricky Steamboat goes from sixth to third having had a comeback match at Summerslam 1991 and won it. The Mountie drops off the list entirely whilst Virgil drop down from joint first to ninth. Because of that Hogan jumps up one spot from fifth to fourth. Ultimate Warrior jumps up two spots whilst Randy Savage and Tama both rise up one. Ric Flair and Jerry Saggs are new entries in the top 10 whilst The Legion Of Doom and The British Bulldog make up the list.

15= Andre The Giant (9)
15= Dino Bravo (9)
15= Ric Martel (9)
15= Smash (9)
15= Big Boss Man (9)

For the most wins list we have the same top three this time as we did five PPVs ago. And although Steamboat keeps his fourth place, he now shares it with The British Bulldog and Ted Dibiase. The draws list mostly looks the same as last time except this time round I have included every wrestler that has drawn a match on pay per view. The Most losses list is similar to the last one too with the most notable rise coming from The Rockers who enter the list for the first ever time.

Highest Loss Percentage (Minimum 2 matches)

1. Koko B. Ware 100% (9 matches)
2. Boris Zhukov 100% (7 matches)
3. Ron Bass 100% (5 matches)
4= Crush 100% (4 matches)
4= Ken Patera 100% (4 matches)
6= Judy Martin 100% (3 matches)
6= Leilani Kai 100% (3 matches)
6= Sam Houston 100% (3 matches)
9= Bam Bam Bigelow 100% (2 matches)
9= “Cowboy” Bob Orton 100% (2 matches)
9= George “The Animal” Steele 100% (2 matches)
9= Kato 100% (2 matches)
9= Pedro Morales 100% (2 matches)
9= Sensational Sherri 100% (2 matches)
9= Skinner 100% (2 matches)
9= The Bezerker 100% (2 matches)
9= The Blue Blazer 100% (2 matches)
9= Tony Atlas/Saba Simba 100% (2 matches)
9= Velvet McIntyre 100% (2 matches)
9= Zues (2 matches)
21. Honky Tonk Man 91% (11 matches)
22. “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka 87.5% (8 matches)
23= Akeem 83.3% (6 matches)
23= The Red Rooster 83.3% (6 matches)
25. Hercules 81.8% (22 matches)

If this was to just be a top 10 list then the only difference from last time would be that Jimmy Snuka finally won a match and drops out of the top ten all the way down to number 22. The top 20 on this list have all lost 100% of their PPV matches. The next four have all won one of their PPV matches. Skinner and The Bezerker are two new entrants that go straight onto this list.

Most Main Events

1. Hulk Hogan (17)
2= “Macho Man” Randy Savage (6)
2= Ultimate Warrior (6)
4= Andre The Giant (4)
4= “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (4)
4= Sgt Slaughter (4)
7= “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff (3)
8= Hercules (2)
8= Haku (2)
8= Rick Rude (2)
8= Akeem/One Man Gang (2)
8= The Undertaker (2)
8= “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (2)
8= King Kong Bundy (2)

Hulk Hogan obviously keeps his place at the top of this list. Warrior jumps up to joint second and if he or Randy Savage want to top the list they would have to main event the next 12 PPVs without Hogan featuring. Unlikely. Sgt Slaughter is a new entrant in at joint fourth whilst everyone from 8th place down have main evented 2 shows.

Top Rated Matches

1. Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage – Wrestlemania VII (9/10)
2. Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat – Wrestlemania III (8.5/10)
3= Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior – Wrestlemania VI (8/10)
3= Mr Perfect vs. Bret “Hitman Hart” – Summerslam 1991 (8/10)
3= The 1990 Royal Rumble Match (8/10)

10= The Dream Team vs. The Enforcers – Survivor Series 1989 (7.25/10)

Lowest Ranking Matches

1= Paul Orndorff vs. Tito Santana – Wrestling Classic (2/10)
1= Fabulous Moolah vs. Velvet McIntyre – Wrestlemania II (2/10)
1= Uncle Elmer vs. Adrian Adonis – Wrestlemania II (2/10)
1= Corporal Kirchner vs. Nikolai Volkoff – Wrestlemania II (2/10)
1= Tony Garea vs. Ted Arcidi – The Big Event (2/10)
1= Haku vs. Don Muraco – The Big Event (2/10)

1= Jake Roberts vs. Andre The Giant – Wrestlemania V (2/10)
1= Demolition vs. Tenryu & Kitao – Wrestlemania VII (2/10)

 The only new entrant to either of these lists is the addition of Mr Perfect vs. Bret Hart into the top rated matches. Everything else stays exactly the same.

Tag Teams With Highest Win Percentage

1. The Legion Of Doom (100%)
2= The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff (100%)
2= The Brain Busters (100%)
4= The Bushwhackers (66.6%)
4= The Nasty Boys (66.6%)
6. Demolition (60%)
7= The Hart Foundation (50%)
7= The Orient Express (50%)
7= The Killer Bees (50%)
7= The British Bulldogs (50%)
7= The Funks (50%)

These tag team lists are just based on 2 vs 2 tag team matches. So it’s The Legion Of Doom that are top of the lists with wins over the likes of Power & Glory and The Nasty Boys. The next two teams are former Tag Team champions and also boast a 100% win record, winning both of their PPV matches. The Bushwhackers and Nasty Boys are rather suprisingly high on the list whilst Demolition are the only other team to have a higher win % that 50.

Tag Teams With Highest Loss Percentage

1= Strike Force (100%)
1= The Bolsheviks (100%)
3= Power & Glory (66.6%)
3= The Dream Team (66.6%)
5. The Fabulous Rougeaus (60%)
6. The Rockers (57%)

The Bolsheviks are top of this list and were used to get more important teams over whilst Strike Force were tag team champions. The next two teams lost 2 out of 3 of their tag team matches whilst The Fabulous Rougeaus and The Rockers didn’t fare too well either.

Highest Average Match Rating (2 or more matches)

1. Ric Flair (6.91)
2. Tony Atlas/Saba Simba (6.5)
3. The Red Rooster (6.45)
4. Hulk Hogan (6.26)
5. Tugboat/Typhoon (6.25)
6. Ron Bass (6.1)
7= Animal (6.08)
7= Hawk (6.08)
9. Tully Blanchard (6.06)
10. Arn Anderson (6.05)
11. Akeem (6.04)
12. Ultimate Warrior (5.98)
13. Rowdy Roddy Piper (5.96)
14. Bret “Hitman” Hart (5.88)
15. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (5.78)
16= Earthquake (5.75)
16= Zeus (5.75)
16= The Bezerker (5.75)
19. Brian Knobbs (5.7)
20. Mr Perfect (5.68)
21. Ax (5.68)
22= Marty Jannetty (5.66)
22= Shawn Michaels (5.66)
24. Danny Davis (5.65)
25. Texas Tornado (5.638)

Ric Flair made his PPV debut at Battle Royal at The Albert Hall with a win over Tito Santana. It was a good match and a solid debut for Flair and he hasn’t had a bad match since. Tony Atlas and Red Rooster jump up a couple of place whilst Hogan falls down one. I still think it’s a testament to Hogan that he’s had so many matches and yet still ranks high on this list. Tugboat/Typhoon falls down five places and the Legion of Doom slip down the list too. Ultimate Warrior drops out of the top 10 to 12th whilst Brian Knobbs slips all the way down to 19th.

Lowest Average Match Rating (2 or more matches)

1. Corporal Kirchner (2.5)
2. Adrian Adonis (2.85)
3= Velvet McIntyre (3)
3= The Fabulous Moolah (3)
5. Rockin Robin (3.5)
6= Judy Martin (3.58)
6= Leilani Kai (3.58)
8. Tama (3.66)
9= I.R.S (3.75)
9= Billy Jack Haynes (3.75)
11= The Blue Blazer (3.875)
11= The Jumping Bomb Angels (3.875)
13. Ted Arcidi (4)
14. The Junkyard Dog (4.05)
15. Sato (4.16)
16. Don Muraco (4.19)
17. Dynamite Kid (4.4)
18= Jim Powers (4.5)
18= Bam Bam Bigalow (4.5)
18= Pedro Morales (4.5)
21. Butch Reed (4.56)
22. Greg “The Hammer” Valentine (4.63)
23. Nikolai Volkoff (4.65)
24= Harley Race (4.75)
24= Tanaka (4.75)
24= “Cowboy” Bob Orton (4.75)

The only different in the top ten of this list is The Mountie completely dropping out of not only the top 10 but the top 25 and I.R.S going in straight into the top 10. He’s had two matches since the debut of the character and the quality has been quite low so far. Especially his match against Greg Valentine. There aren’t many in the top 25 that are still wrestling now. In fact nobody besides I.R.S has fought on the last four PPVs. It definitely seems as though match quality is improving.

Bastions Top 25

1. Hulk Hogan (13594)
2. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (8697)
3. Ultimate Warrior (7180)
4. “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (4831)
5. Ricky Steamboat (4360)
6. British Bulldog (4173)
7. Bret “Hitman” Hart (4117)
8. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan (3806)
9. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart (3470)
10. Earthquake (3450)
11. Barry Darsow (3340)
12. Big Boss Man (3270)
13. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (3047)
14. Ax (2840)
15. Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (2638)
16. The Mountie/Jacques Rougeaus (2453)
17. The Legion Of Doom (2433)
18. The Warlord (2306)
19. Mr Perfect (2275)
20. The Texas Tornado (2255)
21. Tito Santana (2239)
22. Ric Martel (2238)
23. The Junkyard Dog (2127)
24. Dino Bravo (2046)
25. Andre The Giant (2026)

To determine this list is a complex formula that takes into consideration matches had, matches won, match quality and main events. The top three is the same as last time with Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior taking the top spots. Ted Dibiase and Ricky Steamboat swap places to make up the top 5. Bret Hart, Jim Duggan and Jim Neidhart also keep their spots in the top 10 whilst The British Bulldog and Earthquake enter the top 10 for the firs time. Jake Roberts suprisingly drops out of the top 10 with Ax who hasn’t wrestled since the last stat pack. Andre The Giant only just makes it onto this list, in at #25 which is also a suprise.

Top 10 Title Reigns

1. Hulk Hogan – 1st World Heavyweight Title Reign
2. Demolition – 1st Tag Team Title Reign
3. Ultimate Warrior – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
4. Hulk Hogan – 3rd World Heavyweight Title Reign
5. Bret Hart – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
6. The Legion Of Doom – 1st Tag Team Title Reign
7. Randy Savage – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
8. Honky Tonk Man – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
9. Greg Valentine – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
10. Mr Perfect – 2nd Intercontinental Title Reign

A few new entrants on this list as it goes from a top 5 to a top 10. The top 3 stay the same though and are joined in the top 6 by Hulk Hogans 3rd World Title reign and Bret Hart and Legion Of Dooms current respective Intercontinental and Tag Team championship reigns. The rest of the top 10 are made up from heel Intercontinental reigns where they all successfully defended titles in the luckiest of ways.

Highest Manager Success Rate (2 or more matches)

1. Miss Elizabeth (81.25%)
2. Paul Bearer (75%)
3= Sensational Sherri (50%)
3= Frenchy Martin (50%)
3= Billy Graham (50%)
3= Fabulous Moolah (50%)
3= Freddie Blassie (50%)
3= Lou Albano (50%)
3= The Genius (50%)

Miss Elizabeth stays top of this list having not managed since the last stat pack. Second on the list is a new entrant in Paul Bearer who has managed Undertaker to three wins out of four. The rest of the list is very much the same with all seven of the managers and valets managing their clients to 50% wins.

Highest Manager Loss Rate (minimum 2 matches)

1= “Cowboy” Bob Orton (100%)
1= Harvey Wippleman (100%)
1= Oliver Humperdink (100%)
4. General Adnan (80%)
5. Mr Fuji (68.4%)
6. Bobby Heenan (64.8%)
7. Jimmy Hart (62.9%)
8. Slick (60.8%)

This list doesn’t change too much either. Harvey Wippleman is a new manager and after two matches in which his clients lost, Wippleman goes straight on this one. General Adnan’s reputation gets worse after more losses for Slaughter. Jimmy Hart is the only man on this list to improve his managerial ranking.
