Stat Pack Vol 14

70 PPVs in the bag, all reviewed, all ranked and all ripped apart for statistics. So welcome everybody to the 14th instalment of stat pack. In this blog expect to see stats such as every PPV ranked, all wrestler stats such as most matches, wins, most tag team wins, highest managerial win percentage, best matches and much much more. Since the last Stat Pack, Bret Hart lost the WWF title to Sid who in turn lost it to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 13. Undertaker is still the champion. Also, Intercontinental champion Rocky Maivia lost his belt to Owen Hart who is still champion but has yet to defend it on pay per view. Tag Team champions Owen Hart & British Bulldog lost their titles to Shawn Michaels and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Let’s get to the stats.

Year Ranking

1. 1997* (60.2)
2. 1996 (58.8)
3. 1994 (57.8)
4. 1992 (52.8)
5. 1995 (52.37)
6. 1993 (51.5)
7. 1990 (50.75)
8. 1989 (50.5)
9. 1991 (49.8)
10. 1987 (47)
11. 1988 (46)
12. 1985 (40.5)
13. 1986 (39.5)

Well the newest 5 PPVs reviewed takes 1997 to the very top. Although 1997 is still going, the shows that have been produced have been some of the very best of all time. Numbers one and two on the best PPVs of all time are new additions with Canadian Stampede going to the very top. Unbelievable that an In Your House show should go straight to the top but it was an unforgettable show. Wrestlemania 13 which featured Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin and Sid vs. The Undertaker goes in at number 2. King Of The Ring 1997 is the only other notable new entry and that slots in at joint 7th. The other two new events, In Your House’s Cold Day In Hell and Revenge Of The Taker go in at #18 and #19 respectively.

Most PPVs Wrestled On

1. Bret Hart (52)
2. Shawn Michaels (47)
3. British Bulldog (43)
4. The Undertaker (41)
5. Owen Hart/The Blue Blazer (35)
6. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (28)
7.  Hulk Hogan (27)
8. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (25)
9= Tito Santana (24)
9= Marty Jannetty (24)

There are no changes to this list! The top ten stay exactly the same in exactly the same positions. Bret Hart has extended his lead because Michaels only wrestled on one pay per view in the last five. That means Bulldog has made ground on Shawn. The Undertaker was the only man in the top ten to have wrestled on each of the last 5 PPVs, all of which were WWF title matches. Owen Hart, like Bulldog, missed one show. Jake Roberts down to Marty Jannetty all stay the same as none of them have wrestled recently. Tito Santana has gone the longest without wrestling, his last match was in the 1993 Royal Rumble over 4 years ago but he stays in the top 10.

Most PPV Matches

1. Bret Hart (58)
2. Shawn Michaels (48)
3. British Bulldog (44)
4. The Undertaker (43)
5. Owen Hart/The Blue Blazer (38)
6.  “Macho Man” Randy Savage (31)
7= Jake “The Snake” Roberts (29)
7= Hulk Hogan (29)
9. Tito Santana (27)
10. “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (26)

This list looks rather similar to the last one, in fact the top 5 are exactly the same. The next 4 are the same but in a different order. This top 10 stays exactly the same as the last stat pack. Bret Hart is considerably ahead of the competition in this one. Ted Dibiase is the only name that doesn’t feature on the last list and that is in part down to his multiple matches at Wrestlemania 4 in the World title tournament. Once again, Tito Santana is the man to not have wrestled for the longest.

Highest Win Percentage (2+ matches)

1= Mr T 100% (2 matches)
1= The Jumping Bomb Angels 100% (2 matches)
3. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat 80% (10 matches)
4. The Ultimate Warrior 79% (19 matches)
5. Hulk Hogan 72% (29 matches)
6. The Steiner Brothers 66% (6 matches)
7= Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon 66% (3 matches)
7= Tama 66% (3 matches)
9. The Undertaker 63% (43 matches)
10= Mo 60% (5 matches)
10= Rocky Maivia 60% (5 matches)

Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon were top of this list in the last stat pack but they drop down to joint 7th after their loss to The Headbangers at Wrestlemania 13. Mr T and The JUmping Bomb Angels take their spot back at the top. The rest of the top 6 stay the same. Tama jumps up from 8th to 7th, joint with Furnas and Lafon. The Undertaker is the highest new entry, in at number 9 after he’s defeated the likes of Sycho Sid, Mankind, Steve Austin, Faarooq and Vader on the last 5 PPVs. Mo is a new entry in at number 10 without even wrestling whilst Rocky Maivia drops from 8th to 10th after a loss to Mankind. Steve Austin and The Legion Of Doom drop off the top 10.

Most Wins

1. Bret Hart (31)
2. The Undertaker (27)
3. British Bulldog (22)
4. Hulk Hogan (21)
5. Shawn Michaels (20)
6. Owen Hart (19)
7. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (18)
8. Ultimate Warrior (15)
9. Razor Ramon (13)
10= Yokozuna (10)
10= Earthquake (10)

This list is quite a fascinating one. Bret Hart sits at the top with 31 wins. The Undertaker retains his second spot with 27 wins, he’s been on a great run as of late. British Bulldog leapfrogs Hulk Hogan to take bronze. Owen Hart leapfrogs legend Randy Savage to take 6th spot. The bottom four all stay the same. It always blows my mind that it only takes 10 PPV wins to get on this list. The two big men Yokozuna and Earthquake continue to prop up this list.

Most Draws

1. Shawn Michaels (4)
2= Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (3)
2= British Bulldog (3)
4= “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff (2)
4= Bad News Brown (2)
4= Don Muraco (2)
4= Mankind (2)
4= Vader (2)
4= Yokozuna (2)

We have a top 9 for this list now. Shawn Michaels draw with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin means that he finally takes a top spot on a list. British Bulldogs draw at Wrestlemania 13 puts him joint second with Brutus Beefcake. Vader and Mankind are the two new entries on the list following their draw with British Bulldog and Owen Hart at Wrestlemania 13 and Mankinds draw with Hunter Hearst Helmsley at Canadian Stampede.

Most Losses

1. Bret Hart (26)
2. Shawn Michaels (24)
3. Tito Santana (22)
4. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (21)
5. Marty Jannetty (20)
6= Hercules (19)
6= British Bulldog (19)
8. Owen Hart/The Blue Blazer (18)
9= Greg Valentine/The Blue Knight (17)
9= Rick Martel (17)

Not the list you want to be on. The top 5 stay exactly the same with the first bit of movement being British Bulldog joining Hercules in joint 6th. Owen Hart then separates himself from the bottom two following his lost with Bulldog against the Legion Of Doom at Revenge Of The Taker. It’s funny to see how many more losses you need to get on this list than you need wins to get on the most wins list. Shawn Michaels and British Bulldog are the only men to feature on all three list of most wins, draws and losses.

Highest Loss Percentage (2+ matches)

1. Koko B Ware 100% (11 matches)
2. Boris Zhukov 100% (7 matches)
3= Adam Bomb 100% (6 matches)
3= Phineas Godwinn 100% (6 matches)
3= Skinner 100% (6 matches)
6= Ron Bass 100% (5 matches)
6= The Bezerker 100% (5 matches)
8= Leilani Kai 100% (4 matches)
8= Leif Cassidy 100% (4 matches)
8= Ken Patera 100% (4 matches)
8= Paul Diamond (Kato/Max Moon) 100% (4 matches)

This list is a top 11 which features 11 wrestlers that have all win 100% of their PPV matches despite getting at least 4 bites of the cherry. There is only one bit of movement and that is Phineas Godwinn going from joint 5th to joint 3rd following his loss at Wrestlemania 13 in a 4 way tag team match.

Most Main Events

1= Bret Hart (20)
1= Hulk Hogan (20)
3. The Undertaker (15)
4. Shawn Michaels (14)
5. Diesel (12)
6. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (10)
7. Yokozuna (9)
8= British Bulldog (8)
8= Sid (8)
10. Ultimate Warrior (7)

For the first time ever and it’s taken 70 PPVs but finally somebody has caught up with Hulk Hogan for pay per view main events. Bret Hart is the man to do it and being that he’s still wrestling, Bret is bound to surpass The Hulkster. The Undertaker jumps from 5th to 3rd after a string of main events. There aren’t too many other changes to this list except British Bulldog and Sid both main eventing 1 PPV in the last 5 leaving Ultimate Warrior in 10th.

2= Demolition vs. Tenryu & Kitao – Wrestlemania VII (2/10)
2= Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler – Summerslam 96 (2/10)

Some changes to the highest rated matches. Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Randy Savage all feature in 4 matches each for the top rated matches. There is a new number one in the epic 10 man tag match at Canadian Stampede. It’s amazing how much the crowd helped this match, I have never seen anything like it. The match at Wrestlemania 13 between Hart and Austin enters the list in joint 3rd which now means that it takes an 8.25 score to get in the top 10. The lowest rated matches stay exactly the same.

Tag Teams With Highest Win Percentage (2+ matches)

1. The Natural Disasters 100% (4 matches)
2. The Steiner Brothers 100% (3 matches)
3= Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff 100% (2 matches)
3= Men On A Mission 100% (2 matches)
3= The Brain Busters 100% (2 matches)

8. The Nasty Boys 66% (3 matches)
9. Demolition 60% (5 matches)
10. Owen Hart & British Bulldog 57% (7 matches)

The top 6 stay exactly the same in this list with the Legion Of Doom the only team on this list to have picked up a win in the last 5 PPVs. They beat Owen Hart and British Bulldog who drop down from 7th to 10th as a result. The other three teams at the bottom all jump up one place and we have no new entries.

Tag Team With Highest Loss Percentage (2+ matches)

1. The Godwinns 100% (4 matches)
2= Strike Force 100% (2 matches)

5= The Dream Team 66% (3 matches)
9. The Fabulous Rougeaus 60% (5 matches)
10. The Orient Express 60% (5 matches)

Remember these tag team lists only count 2 vs. 2 tag team matches. So singles, Survivor Series and 6 man tag matches etc don’t count. This list stays exactly the same as the last stat pack with the only difference being that The Godwinns lost another match, this one at Wrestlemania 13 so they cement their place at the top. The Rougeuas go above The Orient Express due to one of their other matches being a draw.

Highest Average Match Rating (2+ matches)

1. Ric Flair (7.14)
2. Hakushi (7.06)
3. Aldo Montoya (7)
4. Ken Shamrock (6.9)

6. Steve Austin (6.8)
7. Kama (6.75)
8. Kwang (6.75)
9. Dean Douglas (6.66)
10. Diesel (6.53)

Well this list is sort of taking shape. It looks a lot better than it has done previously. The likes of Tony Atlas have gone. Ric Flair keeps his spot at the top whilst Mankind falls from 2nd to 5th which means Hakushi and Aldo Montoya rise to 2nd and 3rd. Ken Shamrock is the highest new entry and mostly because of the awesome main event at Canadian Stampede he comes in at number 4. Steve Austin has had some damn good matches recently and he re-enters the list in at number 6. Kama, Kwang, Dean Douglas all drop one spot but stay on the list.

Lowest Average Match Rating (2+ matches)

2. Adrian Adonis (2.85)
3= Velvet McIntyre (3)

8. Ultimate Warrior (9629)
9. Razor Ramon (8195)

Bastions Top 10 is made up of a complex formula calculating matches, win records, main events and match quality. Bret Hart keeps his top spot whilst The Undertaker jumps up from 4th to 2nd. Hogan and Michaels fall down a spot whilst Owen Hart leapfrogs Randy Savage. The rest of the list stays the same and there are no new entries.

Top 10 Title Reigns

1. Diesel – 1st World Heavyweight Title Reign

7. Bret Hart – 3rd World Heavyweight Title Reign
8. Rocky Maivia – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
9. Shawn Michaels – 1st Intercontinental Title Reign
10. Demolition – 1st Tag Team Title Reign

There are a few changes to this list. British Bulldog and Owen Hart jump up from 7th to 3rd place after their awesome tag team title reign. The Undertaker is a new entry and due to his current WWF World Heavyweight title reign, he sits in 5th place. Rocky Maivia is the second new entry, after beating the likes of The Sultan at Wrestlemania, his title reign is worthy of the number 8 spot. Razor Ramons 1st Intercontinental title reign and Alundra Blayze’s Womens title reign fall of the list.

7. “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase (21)
8. Miss Elizabeth (18)
9= Harvey Wippleman (13)
9= Marlena (13)

There is only one change on this list and that is Marlena coming in as a new entry joint with Harvey Wippleman in the bottom spot there. All the rest stays the same with Paul Bearer getting ever closer to Bobby Heenan.

Highest Managerial Success Rate (2+ matches)

1. Chyna 80% (5 matches)
2. Miss Elizabeth 77.7% (18 matches)
3. Jose Lothario 77.7% (9 matches)

8= Fabulous Moolah 50% (2 matches)
8= “Classie” Freddie Blassie 50% (2 matches)
8= Mr Perfect 50% (2 matches)

We have a new #1 on this list in the form of Chyna. She has been in Hunter Hearst Helmsleys corner for 5 matches, 4 of which he’s won, the other he drew. This means everybody else drops a place. There is one other new entry in Bob Backlund who has managed The Sultan recently to a loss at Wrestlemania as well as previously managing Dean Douglas to a victory.

Highest Managerial Loss Rate (2+ matches)

1. Hillbilly Jim 100% (6 matches)

8. General Adnan 80% (5 matches)
9. Diana Smith 75% (4 matches)
10.  Clarence Mason 73% (11 matches)

Hillbilly Jim gets the bad distinction of being top of this list after he managed The Godwinns to another loss at Wrestlemania 13. Diana Smith managed The Hart Foundation to a win at Calgary Stampede which means she drops from 3rd down to 9th. Marlena is replaced at the bottom of this list by Clarence Mason.
