Stat Pack Vol 36

Image result for wwe logo old school

Welcome everybody to my 36th WWE Stat Pack! I have been watching every WWF PPV from the very beginning, back from Wrestlemania 1 and reviewing each and every show. Every 5 PPVs I have put together and updated a stat pack which records all the major stats, facts and figures from the big shows. Within this Stat Pack you’ll see all the PPVs ranked as well as which wrestlers have fought the most matches, who has the most wins and losses, all matches rated and who has the best average match rating as well as figures on the tag teams, managers and much more. This Stat Pack covers from the original Wrestlemania through to ECW One Night Stand 2005,  an epic 180 PPVs.

Since the last Stat Pack there are two new World champions in the WWE with Batista winning the World Heavyweight Championship and John Cena winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. Edge is Mr Money In The Bank and has an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship whenever he pleases. Orlando Jordan beat John Cena for the United States Championship whilst the WWE Tag Team Championships are now held by MNM. The World Tag Team Championships were won by The Hurricane and Rosey whilst Paul London beat Chavo Guerrero who beat Funaki for the Cruiserweight title. Now let’s get to the stats.

2005 has improved in PPV quality by a long way over the last few months. There have been a couple of average shows in No Way Out and Judgment Day (both Smackdown only shows) but everything else was far above average. Backlash is in the top 30 PPV’s of all time, Wrestlemania 21 is in the top 15 and ECW One Night Stand is in the top 10. Overall this brings 2005 up to the 4th best year of all time for PPV’s so far. There’s a long way to go yet but 2005 has definitely turned a corner and could go down as one of the best PPV years of all time if it can keep it up.

Most PPV’s Wrestled On

1. The Undertaker (112)
2. Triple H (96)
3. Glenn Jacobs (Fake Diesel/Isaac Yankem/Kane) (81)
4. Shawn Michaels (74)
5= Chris Jericho (67)
5= The Rock (67)
7 “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (66)
8. Edge (65)
9. Billy Gunn (63)
10. Christian (62)

This top 10 list keeps the same ten names but some are in a slightly different order. The top 4 stay exactly the same but it’s Chris Jericho that moves joint with The Rock, moving up from 7th to joint 5th. Stone Cold Steve Austin falls down one place whilst Edge stays in 8th and Billy Gunn drops to 9th. Christian keeps his position in 10th as he only wrestled once on the last 5 PPV’s. There have been 180 PPV’s so it now takes wrestling on over one third of them to get on this list. Only one other man has wrestled on over a third and with 61 PPV’s that is Kurt Angle.

These ten names stay the same too. It now takes 67 PPV matches to get on this list rather than 64. The top 5 stay the same and once again it is Chris Jericho that is the highest mover, joining Steve Austin in 6th. Billy Gunn drops a place to 8th and is joined by Edge and Kurt Angle.

There are absolutely no changes to this list. Maybe that’s a sign of competitiveness or is it 50/50% booking? Either way, nobody on this list has had a match on the last 5 PPV’s and nobody has done well enough to earn a spot on this list.

9. Shawn Michaels (30)
10. Billy Gunn (28)

The Undertaker extends his lead at the top of this list from 12 wins to 14 following victories over Luther Reigns and Randy Orton. Triple H hasn’t picked up a win on the last 5 PPV’s and so the rest of the top 5 stays the same. Kurt Angle gets nearer to Bret Hart whilst Edge stays in 7th and Kane drops to 8th. Shawn Michaels and billy Gunn keep their spots and it still takes just 28 wins to get on this list. Amazing that The Undertaker has more PPV wins than the likes of Edge and Kane put together.

Christian stays in 7th, Big Show moves up a place to 8th, Edge drops to 9th and The Rock drops to 10th.

Nunzio moves up to joint 7th after his loss to Super Crazy at One Night Stand and Heidenreich enters the list at joint 11th following his loss to Orlando Jordan at Judgment Day.

There is only one small change to this list and that is Triple H adding two more PPV main events to his resume. Nobody else on this list has main evented any of the last 5 PPV’s mainly because of guys like Batista, The Big Show, John Cena and John “Bradshaw” Layfield.

There is only one new addition to the best and worst matches lists and that is Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle’s epic Wrestlemania 21 encounter that goes right in as the joint 6th best match of all time. That means there have only been 5 better matches than it on pay per view. No terrible matches over the last 5 PPV’s which is nice!

There is only one small change to this list and that is in the form of Charlie Haas and Hardcore Holly who have been teaming for a good six months or so on Smackdown going in at the top of this list. They have lost matches to The Basham Brothers and now MNM. This list goes to a top 11 now.

Highest Average Match Rating (2+ matches)

1. Cactus Jack (8.2)
2. Matt Morgan (7.75)
3. Chainsaw Charlie (7.66)
4. Simon Dean (7.62)
5. K-Kwik (7.5)

7. Chris Benoit (7.32)
8. Kurt Angle (7.31)
9. Stone Cold Steve Austin (7.16)
10. Shane McMahon (7.14)

Well this is an interesting list. The top three stay exactly the same with Matt Morgan sandwiched between two hardcore legends. In 4th is a new entry in Simon Dean. Simon Dean has been involved in a Royal Rumble match and an entertaining tag team turmoil match. K-Kwik drops down to 5th and then Mike Awesome is in 6th after a great match with Masato Tanaka at ECW One Night Stand. Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Steve Austin and Shane McMahon all drop down two places. Chris Jericho and Randy Orton fall off this list.

This list doesn’t change much but Christy Hemme is a new entry at joint 7th. She has wrestled Carmella in a lingerie pillow fight and then had a big match with Trish Stratus at Wrestlemania. She joins Debra in 7th which means Nidia, Velvet McIntyre and Zach Gowan all drop one position.

9. Kane (21353)
10. Chris Jericho (20361)

This list is made up of a formula of matches wrestled, won, average match ratings, main events and win percentage. It creates a top 10 of the best of all time. The only change to this top 10 from the last stat pack is Edge rising above Kane after a pretty good run of matches as of late. Everyone else stays in the same order. I like to give you the rest of the top 20 for this list and it reads: Chris Benoit, Hulk Hogan, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Billy Gunn, Christian, Bradshaw, Mick Foley, Bubba Ray Dudley and Eddie Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero is a new entry to the top 20, replacing Sean Waltman.

This list is now a top 9. The one manager that is consistently at ringside at the moment is Ric Flair who has been at the side of Triple H for a couple of years now. Triple H hasn’t found much success as of late in his matches with Batista so as a result Ric Flair falls off this list. Everyone else stays the same.
