The Elimination Chamber event returns in what was originally supposed to be a live event but then was a made a WWE Network exclusive. The show is usually held in February but due to the difficulty in finding arenas capable of holding the Elimination Chamber structure, it was moved to May this year. There will be two Elimination Chamber matches but I’ll come to those shortly. The main event tonight is a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between champion Seth Rollins and the man who challenged him to the match, Dean Ambrose. Ambrose had to put Rollins in a lot of danger in order for Stephanie McMahon to accept Ambrose’s challenge. He then had to sign the contract on Raw but The Authority helped get Ambrose arrested. With it not looking like Ambrose could sign the contract, the match was due to be cancelled but Ambrose would of course return and make the match official.

So there will be two elimination chamber matches tonight. Daniel Bryan was forced into relinquishing his Intercontinental Championship due to injury. It was then announced that an elimination chamber match would decide a new champion and the six men were announced for the match. They were King Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, Sheamus, R-Truth and Rusev. However, in a match against Ryback, Rusev suffered a legitimate foot injury. That has taken him out of the match and we will find out who replaces him during the show. The other elimination chamber match will be the first ever tag team chamber match featuring six tag teams in a match for the WWE Tag Team Championships. The New Day are scheduled to defend against Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, Los Matadores, The Lucha Dragons, The Ascension and The Prime Time Players. After doing the bidding for The Authority on Smackdown it has been announced that all three members of The New Day will involved in this match. I’m not sure how all three men will fit in a single pod though!

On Raw a couple of weeks ago John Cena made his usual United States open challenge and it was answered by NXT Champion Kevin Owens. However, Kevin wasn’t out for a match and instead wanted to make a name at John Cena’s expense. He attacked Cena and later on was granted his match for the United States Championship at Elimination Chamber. Also tonight, Nikki Bella defends her WWE Divas Championship in a triple threat match against the woman that pinned her at Extreme Rules, Naomi and the woman who won a number one contenders battle royal a month ago, Paige. And we will also see a match between Neville and Bo Dallas.

On the Elimination Chamber kick off show Stardust defeated Zack Ryder.

A video package kicks us off, it focuses on the elimination chamber matches, the United States Championship match and the main event.

Michael Cole welcomes us to Elimination Chamber.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E) vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro vs. The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O’Neil) vs. Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs. The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto & Sin Cara) vs. The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor)Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Tag Team Championships

The Prime Time Players enter the match. And they get right into it with The Ascension. Viktor beats Titus down as Darren Young lays into Konnor. Titus then launches Viktor into the side of the chamber a few times. Darren Young hits Viktor with a gutbuster and pins him for the three! The Ascension have been eliminated. The Prime Time Players go to work on Tyson Kidd and Cesaro now. Titus suplexes Darren on to both Kidd and then Cesaro. Tyson hits Young with a neckbreaker but Titus drops Kidd with a big boot. Cesaro hits Titus with a clothesline but then runs into the boots on Darren Young. Cesaro dropkicks Young and hits him with uppercuts and then a gut-wrench superplex as Cesaro powerbombs Titus! Everyone is down now. Titus crawls over and covers Cesaro but Tyson makes the save. Titus hits Kidd with a spinebuster and Darren pins him for a two count.

The New Day enter the match. And they have a massive advantage with the third man. They beat down everyone they can. Prime Time Players, Cesaro and Kidd hit a triple suplex on The New Day! Cesaro and Kidd then throw Xavier Woods into a pod and shut the door. Fairly sure he’ll be able to get out quite easily. Cesaro hits Kofi with a spinebuster and then swings him round and round with Tyson Kidd hitting a dropkick to end it. Darren Young then rolls Cesaro up from nowhere and gets the three! Tyson Kidd & Cesaro have been eliminated!

We’re down to just The New Day and The Prime Time Players. Xavier is back in the match and The New Day beat down The Prime Time Players. Xavier hits a rolling clothesline on Young and Kofi hits a dropkick on O’Neil. New Day then out Titus’s big head through the chains and he screams. Big E looks to slam Darren young, Xavier and Kofi go to the top but Darren Young fights off all three men. Titus gets to his feet and boots down Xavier Woods. He then throws Big E into the side of the chamber repeatedly. Kofi manages to dispose of Darren Young and then looks for trouble in paradise on Titus but Titus catches him and bashes him off the side of the chamber. Titus hits a splash on Big E and then a big clothesline. Kofi springboards off the top rope but Darren Young catches him and hits a gutbuster for a near fall. Darren Young clotheslines Big E out of the ring, going out with him. Big E then belly to belly suplexes Darren on the outside. Big E gets in the ring and Titus slams him for a near fall. Titus sets up Xavier for a fallaway slam but Big E crotch chops him. Kofi then hits trouble in paradise and all three members of New Day dive on top of O’Neil to get the three! New Day retain the WWE Tag Team Championships tonight!

And that was Elimination Chamber 2015. It felt ok. It wasn’t an amazing show with standout matches, it was a decent show with most of the matches being above average. The crowd were possibly the worst PPV crowd I have ever seen. They were dead. The opening match was actually my favourite match of the night. There was a lot of chaos with 13 guys being in the chamber for the first ever time. 14 if you count El Torito. There were some good spots from the likes of Cesaro and Kalisto. New Day had the advantage and they won the match. I couldn’t see most of the teams in the match winning but The Ascension got a couple of eliminations and Darren Young eliminated Viktor and Cesaro which is a big rub for him. I was surprised to see the Prime Time Players last until the end so expect to see them feud with New Day going forward. A great way to open the show.

The divas were next and they put on a decent match but it only went 6 minutes. I enjoyed it for the most part though and Nikki picked up the win, she’s having a long reign as Divas Champion. Nikki pinned Naomi so you would think that Naomi would be out of the running for the Divas Championship now, maybe Paige will get another shot soon. Kevin Owens then beat John Cena cleanly in what was a surprised finish. It’s a massive push for Owens who will presumably stay on the main roster now. We know he’ll be getting another match with Cena in two weeks time at Money In The Bank. This was a decent match but I think these two guys have a lot more in the tank. Neville then beat Bo Dallas. Something didn’t really click in this match which is a shame because Neville is so damn talented. I don’t think the crowd helped. Neville got the win he deserved and we know he’ll be a part of the Money In The Bank ladder match in a couple of weeks.

Next up was the second elimination chamber match of the night. Mark Henry was Rusev’s replacement. Fairly disappointing. They could have elevated someone, used someone more over currently (like Stardust) or introduced somebody from NXT. It came down to Ryback and Sheamus though which I quite liked. And I like the spot with Sheamus being unable to get out of his pod. I did wonder whether that was legit for a short time. I also liked Mark Henry getting out of his pod early and then getting on with it because there was no dq’s. Sheamus is a really solid heel at the moment. Ryback was the winner though which is nice for him as he wins his first title in WWE. And in the main event Dean Ambrose beat Seth Rollins by disqualification. It was a decent match but I wasn’t a fan of the screwy finish. I’m sure it’ll lead to another match at Money In The Bank. I like Rollins as champion but I’m sure Ambrose will win the title at some point. A good match though and worthy of being the main event.

Overall Rating: 59.58/100 (ranked joint 132nd out of 315)
