Wrestlemania, the biggest show of the year and it has a stacked line up. In the main event Brock Lesnar defends the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns. The two men only had two confrontations leading to their match but one ended in the two men in a tug-o-war over the Championship belt. Lesnar’s contract was due to come to an end just after Wrestlemania but the it has since been confirmed that Lesnar has signed an extension with WWE, retiring from UFC.
Another huge match for tonight will be a first ever WWE match for Sting who goes one on one with Triple H. Sting has been a thorn in Triple H’s side for months and when Triple H challenged Sting to a match, Sting wanted it at Wrestlemania. It’s sure to be one of the biggest matches in the history of the company. Also tonight Bray Wyatt will go up against The Undertaker. For weeks Bray Wyatt has begged for Undertaker to come back, even being wheeled out in a coffin in order to antagonise The Phenom. Undertaker would accept the challenge. He looks to right the wrong of last years event when his streak came to an end.
Seth Rollins out Randy Orton out of action earlier this year and when Orton returned he seemed to want to re-join The Authority. That was until he got Seth Rollins all to himself and laid into the man who took him out. Randy and Seth go one on one tonight. There will be a United States Championship match tonight but this rivalry between champion Rusev and challenger John Cena means far more than the United Championship itself. Cena spend weeks asking for a rematch against Rusev but the Bulgarian would turn down his challenge. Eventually Cena would lock Rusev in the STF until Lana accepted Cena’s challenge to put Rusev out of his misery. Rusev doesn’t seem happy about what Lana did but tonight he defends his title against John Cena.
The Intercontinental Championship will be defended in a ladder match between seven men who have been stealing the title off one another over the past few weeks. What started with Dean Ambrose stealing the title away from Bad News Barrett became a game for R-Truth and would eventually involve Stardust, Luke Harper, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler. A match was made between the seven men for Wrestlemania, a ladder match that should be reminiscent of the Money In The Bank matches that we used to get at the event. The Divas Championship won’t be defended tonight but there will be diva tag team action as The Bella Twins go up against the frenemies of Paige and AJ Lee.
There are two matches set for the pre-show. We will have the second annual Andre The Giant Battle Royal which will feature the likes of The Miz, Damien Mizdow, The Big Show, Kane, Mark Henry, Ryback Jack Swagger and Erick Rowan. And there will also be a fatal four way tag team match with champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro defending against The New Day, Los Matadores and The Usos.
On the Wrestlemania 35 kick-off show Andre The Giant won the second annual Andre The Giant Battle Royal, last eliminating Damien Mizdow after Mizdow eliminated The Miz. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro retained their WWE Tag Team Championships.
Wrestlemania kicks off with Aloe Blacc singing American The Beautiful. It’s nice that they use current artists.
LL Cool J then presents an opening package, taking us through the history of Wrestlemania. No major focus on the matches tonight.
Michael Cole welcomes us to Wrestlemania.
Bad News Barrett (c) vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. R-Truth vs. Stardust vs. Luke Harper – Ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship

Stardust kicks everyone out of the ring and throws a ladder at Harper. Stardust then pulls out his own ladder which has silver on it but Bad News Barrett attacks him from behind and then destroys the ladder! Truth sets up a big ladder but Barrett attacks him and throws him into the ringpost. Stardust then climbs the ladder but he’s too far away form the title. Bad Barrett goes up with Stardust and then suplexes him from the top of the ladder! That was a long way down. Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler position the ladder and climb it, with Dean Ambrose in tow. They all slug it out until Ambrose is knocked off the ladder, bounces off the ropes and then pushes the ladder over. Dean Ambrose sets up the ladder again and climbs it but Luke Harper pulls him down. Ambrose clotheslines Harper and then climbs the ladder but Harper powerbombs him off the ladder and through a ladder set up on the outside! Harper climbs the ladder but Dolph ziggler jumps on his back, executing a sleeper. Dolph tries to reach for the title but ends up hitting a Russian leg sweep on Harper off the ladder!
Dean Ambrose has medical staff looking after him as Dolph Ziggler climbs the ladder in the ring. He has the title but Bad New Barrett pulls him down and hits him with a bullhammer. Barrett then gives Stardust a bullhammer before climbing the ladder with R-Truth. Barrett hits Truth with a bullhammer but Daniel Bryan climbs the ladder and hammers Barrett down with grabbing the title but Dolph knocks him down. Bryan ducks a bullhammer and hits Barrett with a running knee. Daniel Bryan is left alone in the ring and climbs the ladder but Dolph Ziggler races up and hammer Bryan. The two men slug it out and then exchange headbutts until Bryan headbutts Ziggler to the mat and then unhooks the Intercontinental Championship to win the match! Daniel Bryan is the new Intercontinental Champion! A great way to kick off the show.

And that was Wrestlemania 31. That felt like a really good show. From top to bottom, it might even have been better than Wrestlemania 30. It started off in a fun way with the 7 man ladder match. This reminded me of the Money In The Bank ladder matches which is a great way to get more superstars on the card. Daniel Bryan won which is a great way for him to return to the spotlight. The Intercontinental Championship used to be the title that went to the best worker in the company and with Daniel Bryan winning it, it feels like it’s returning to that. It was a great way to start the show. Next up Randy Orton beat Seth Rollins in a really good match. This was absolutely the best result, especially with what would happen later. It sets up a WWE Championship feud between Rollins and Orton going forward. I loved the finish of this match, it’s possibly the best RKO I’ve ever seen.
Triple H and Sting were next and I was surprised to see them so early. I was even more surprised to see DX and the nWo show up but it added a lot to the match. The biggest surprise of them all was when Triple H beat Sting! I wasn’t expecting that result at all. And I didn’t think it was necessary. I honestly hope this feud continues, mostly so we can see more of Sting but also so Stinger can get his win back. Triple H’s night wasn’t over and he would get into a confrontation with The Rock. It looks like they might be setting up a match between the two men for next years Wrestlemania? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. The divas were up next and it was AJ Lee and Paige that beat The Bella Twins. I would have preferred to see a title match but this got the four top divas on the show. This suggests that a feud may continue between Nikki Bella and AJ. This wasn’t the strongest match but I did like the psychology with AJ being taken out for most of the match.
John Cena beat Rusev to win the United States Championship. This was another good match and probably Rusev’s best match to date. It was a clean win for Cena but I think there will probably be a rematch at the next pay per view. I quite like Cena with the United States Championship, it’s a new direction for him and could create some new matches. Hopefully Rusev is kept looking strong going forward. The Undertaker beat Bray Wyatt in an ok match. Undertaker is only capable of so much because of his age but this match was fun and had some good spots in it. Undertaker wins although a win for Undertaker isn’t as powerful as it used to be because of the streak coming to an end last year.
The main event was something to behold. Brock Lesnar dominated Roman Reigns and both men came out looking great due to how much offence Reigns could take. But Seth Rollins was the star and the image of him running down the huge ramp to cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase is one of the greatest moment in Wrestlemania history. Seth left Wrestlemania with the WWE Championship belt after a great match. It really was the heist of the century. A great performance form all three men (although Rollins wasn’t involved for long). A truly great finish to one of the best Wrestlemania events of all time.

Wrestlemania 31 Will Be Remembered For: Seth Rollins’ heist of the century
By the time he won this Andre battle royal, Big Show was already a long-established star in the wrestling industry. But, he did make his kayfabe dad proud.
At the same time, defending the Tag-Team Titles on the pre-show was a HUGE step down for Cesaro after having won the previous year’s battle royal.
Also, this is the final WWE PPV appearance for AJ Lee, who chose to retire from the ring shortly after.
